My fiancee spotted an odd looking mole on my mid-low back a while ago, and I finally went in to the dermatologist today. He cut that one out and another on my abdomen and sent them off for testing. Hopefully they are harmless; he seemed to think they probably were, but just to be sure he sent them in for testing.

Anyhow, the wounds required one stitch each to shut. As I was putting my shirt on, I offhandedly asked the nurse if it was OK if I continued with my weight training, and she said no. I thought she was joking. She wasn't. She said I could rip the stitches out. She said no weights until the stitches are out. She did say I could do treadmill or elliptical though...

These are tiny tiny wounds. I can't see myself doing nothing for 2 weeks. I'll go insane. =|

Anyone else think this is a bit much? 2 weeks of no weights?!?!?!

Do some bodyweight stuff and work on your cardio for the next two weeks. It seems a bit long, but incisions take a while for the body to heal. I wouldn't really wanna risk opening them and potentially getting them infected. Sorry, man.

They always send to a lab. It is no cause for concern.

They always tell you nothing until stitches are out. Personally I'd avoid swimming but otherwise do whatever you want as long as you don't rip them or cause bleeding. I got some stitches recently and was told no swimming until they were out but I kept up my weights and cardio otherwise.

Remember, I have no medical degree. If you get them infected and have to have your torso cut off for gangrene, I'm not to be held responsible. But, honestly, I would not stop working out.

Are these the type of moles under the skin or protruding from the skin? How much did it cost to get done?

Neither were protruding. Both were just a little odd shaped and dark in color.

I'm not exactly sure how much it cost. I don't usually have to pay for much since my insurance pretty much rules.

I'm covered in moles. I don't mind them, and actually kind of like them except for the giant ones on my head that keep me from shaving my head bald. I wish I could get rid of them without leaving scars.

That advise is preposterous. That RN was covering her ass. Go ahead and work out. You'll be fine. Whats the worst thing that can happen? You pop a stitch. Unlikely but even so, big deal. You'll survive. No way I would stop working out for even a day for a mole stitch.

I've tore sutures before, and used butterflies as replacements. It leaves an uglier scar, so if you are OK with that, have at it I suppose.
