I have a USB 3.0 card and a USB 3.0 drive, but I've noticed that the drive occasionally ejects unsafely at random and I get the little stop sign error about drive removal.

I'm using the modbin patch (unsure of version). Anyone experiencing this and have a solution?

If anyone is interested, I've listed the GA-H55N-USB3 on the HQ-A B-S-T board. I got it back from Gigabyte today and the ethernet still does not work. I've bought this http://bit.ly/iECIQE instead on NE.

EDIT: Oops, the item has been withdrawn, it works now.

does anybody know how to get the boot screen to be my screen's native resolution? I've tried changing that plist and yet it's still a low res (my monitor is 1920x1080). I'm running snow leo 10.6.7

What plist, where? Changing the boot screen res is a function of com.apple.boot.plist- (not a string, but the graphics mode) if you used one of the setup methods that use the chameleon bootloader, then it should be in the /Extra folder. (It overrides the same file in the Library/Prefs/SysConfig/ folder).

Try adding:
<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1920x1080x32</string>

I'm assuming you're using graphics enabler, and full res + OCL/QE/CI/ all work normally?

Is your boot screen the actual legacy 'grey' apple logo, or some theme logo? If it's a theme, you might have to force it to the legacy logo, IE:

<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>"Graphics Mode"="1920x1080x32"</string>
<key>Legacy Logo</key>
<string>yes</string>

Or use a theme that matches your native res.

full res + rotation, QE, CI all work normally. My boot screen is the actual legacy 'grey' apple logo. Just really stretched out...

I have a question regarding my current computer. I want to know if I can run any iteration of OSX on here.

Here are my specs:
AMD Phenom 2 X4 955 BE
4 GB DDR3
nVidia 560 Ti by MSI
ASRock M3A770DE - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157176

Is it possible to get it installed and running at all? I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the 560 is impossible to get supported currently, but I still want to try and install it on here. I want to try out OSX so bad without purchasing a Macbook. I tried installing OSX on my previous laptop, but apparently, you can't get everything to work on it the Gateway P-7811fx series.

So please can you let me know if the computer up there can work with OSX and if so, how do you go about installing it? I don't mind purchasing it retail by the way.

Purchasing a retail copy of Snow Leopard is a good way to support Apple, but don't expect to get it running on your AMD, at least with the vanilla kernel. I'm not sure about the video, but just getting OS X to run should be possible, you might just be limited to a low resolution with no QE/CI.

Once you get it running you can always swap your video card for one that is supported and then you should have a pretty complete system. Good luck...

I'm going to risk sounding like I know nothing here, but how do I go about even installing Snow Leopard onto my computer whilst replacing the kernel? Will I have to get a certain distro to install it? I will be buying the software via Amazon if I can actually get this to work so I don't want to get in trouble for asking that question.

Also, how would I even go about installing it if I do purchase it? I really want to get it to work. I'm not bothered about not being able to use QE/CI because at the moment, I want to test it out and just see how well it runs and if I would actually like using it as my daily OS.

As for installing, the legacy version of iBoot uses a hacked kernel and should do the job for you. As long as you boot using iBoot, it will work, but as soon as you try to boot without it the system will KP.

Once you install SL, use MultiBeast to install what you need. I believe it has in it's arsenal, a method to install a hacked kernel for use with unsupported CPU's, but I've never tried it, as I don't own any AMD systems.

There are also other methods as well, simply pointing the com.apple.Boot.plist file to load a hacked kernel will work, it will need to be renamed obviously. Plus there are other utilities out there for this purpose as well.

You should be able to find a thread on TonyMacx86 or InsanelyMac dealing with your specific CPU/Mobo combo and more info can be found there. I've always wanted to do this, but never gotten around to it, so I would love to hear how it goes for you.

so far, dealing with the low res boot screen isn't THAT bad.... that's almost like wishing I had the chime in the beginning!

Question: can I have my board FULLY hacked to be an Actual Mac? that way, I get the chime and everything?

As long as it ends up being the proper resolution, the boot screens aren' that important. As for chimes, I've heard of utilities to do this but I've never investigated. If I need to hear a chime I just switch on my Mac mini!

yeah... just these little cosmetic things that are annoying. But you know, I hear you can REALLY hack a board to be fully mac. If I can do that on my board, that'll be awesome!

does that mean i'll get my chime and it'll function exactly with as a mac? Also, does that mean I'll have my screen boot resolution fixed :D?
