When you are already wealthy/rich, having to deal with this kind of shit is less important than another big paycheck.

Bill Gates probably wouldn't drop his pants on national TV for even $100 million.

Did you read what she said? She spoke for everybody, not people who already had several million - which is almost nobody.

Maybe poorly chosen words on her part and not what she meant to say, but that's still what she said.

Many people here have different opinions about the hacks and the demographics of those targeted by them, etc. This is great except no one gives a fvck about your opinions in this thread. This thread is for what's great about this country, which as it relates here, is this cuntry.

Lawrence just regurgitated more of the crap I've seen all over the internet since the leaks went public. I love all the women who keep using this situation as an example of how female "bodies" are being violated and they are somehow not in control of their own bodies because people looked at some private pictures. As if someone forced their bodies to do that shit for the camera.

"It's my body, and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting. I can’t believe that we even live in that kind of world."

It was your choice to do that stupid shit. And take pictures of it. And store them on your phone/online. All your choice. Deal with the ramifications or don't take the pics in the first place. You wouldn't be calling Daddy to explain it if you didn't do it. You ARE that person after all. If you're ashamed about it, maybe it's time to change your actions

I think they just don't get it. Silly analogy : flaw is found in bank security and is exploited to the end of someone raiding it at night and clearing out safety deposit boxes. Crook is tracked down and prosecuted. Bank is sued for inadequate security and by those who took losses. Clients who lost their property realize the boxes are not entirely secure and they shouldn't keep their belongings there any more.

This is their chance to bring some focus to online security being non-existent and the stupidity of putting anything that personal online with the expectation that only you will have access. Instead every man who looked at these should be prosecuted and violated her ? She sounds mad, understandably, also completely out of touch with the realities of the situation.

I think as a whole this situation will end up costing her money in tarnishing her PR image.

None of that matters at all. Just because the victim acted recklessly it doesn't absolve the people who committed the violation. And it is a violation. Anyone who doesn't think that is less than human, imo. I'll joke about anything on this board, but in all seriousness she has every right to be horrified and outraged. Those very personal images are never going to be private again. She has no chance of effectively prosecuting the sites that are distributing them because I guarantee they are all physically located in jurisdictions where that's going to be really hard/impossible. It's a fucking hard lesson for a 20-something young woman to have to learn.

Lawrence is fucking sexy as hell. If I could be GOD, I'd put myself in that hunger games dome with just me and her and we would chase each other around that jungle and be each other's sexual predators for all eternity. I'd be fine with that. Adam and Eve shit baby. Shes just that sexy. I would be Adam and all you fools would be my offspring. You'd all be damn good looking though.

So can she/others possibly sue the Apple iCloud/cloud server providers for not making it impossible to hack and not limiting how many times a password can be guessed during a specific amount of time? They expected privacy in those photos/videos they took and now it's out in the open. Of course countless other unknowns/non celebs are also victim to what "fappened". :\

*Can* she sue? Sure. You can sue almost anyone for almost anything.

But what can she expect to win? You think she's going to get a bazillion dollar settlement because she had to explain to daddy why she has cum on her face? Unless her career suddenly tanks it's going to be pretty hard to show damages, so even if it went to trial and she won it wouldn't be worth the time and effort. She needs to knock off that "the world is out to get me because I'm a woman" outrage and get a little smarter about her love of seeing herself naked.

An article I read (BBC I think) said that they were gonna sue Google because its search results linked to site that host the content.

While I agree that what happened to these celebrities is criminal, going after Google is just wrong.

What Gaghalfrunt said, plus I am not a lawyer, but I bet the Apple TOS is pretty damn tight.

If she wants to spend money going after people she'd be better off making it very hard for sites making money off the pics. It's not easy to do for offshore sites, but it ain't impossible either. If I possessed a few tens of millions and you posted pics of me I didn't like, I believe I could arrange for your site to experience difficulties in pretty short order.

Typical "blame the victim" mentality. You know who also does this? Extremist muslims blaming women for getting raped.

Get off your high horse.

Going after google and the people who viewed the pics, not apple and the people who stole them.

Saw a headline saying J.Law's pics posted to her Wikipedia page.

It was a video and ran an ad, so I closed it.

With almost everything moving to a cloud-based model, your views are extremely out of date already.

The problem was not the cloud, but the lack of security the device had. Going to the two-step authentication model almost entirely eliminates this risk...

...and it's still the 'cloud'.

Uh, no. Cloud based model is fine and dandy, but if you think stuff you put in the cloud can't be seen by anyone but you, you're stupid and/or delusional. Apple can get to everything in their cloud, just like every cloud provider can get to the contents of the cloud, and I'm sure apple can be compelled to hand it over to law enforcement or government agencies at any point.

If you want to keep something truly secure, you keep physical control of it, and you keep it encrypted. Anything going to the cloud is subject to review by someone else and subject to leaking.

Someone here linked (or at leasted posted the URL for) a site that had the pics. Anand gonna lose his Ferrari yo!

well, jlaw can look on the bright side.

there's no more pressure on her to do nude scenes in movies.

she can be paris Hilton + kardashian and print $ while keeping clothes on.

btw- is it me or was the kardashian sex tape meh?

When Hillary Clinton was in college there was a project that had been going on for many years where all the students were photographed in the nude, with the idea that later study might find links between how you looked and what might happen in your life. When the Clinton's got into power that project and all related images were destroyed to prevent any embarrassment to Hillary.

Its just a body, we all have one and they just aren't all that different or special.

No it doesn't absolve the people who committed the violation and I agree it's a violation. People seem to either feel it's the victims fault or the offenders fault. It can be both.

I'm guessing you (and most people on here) run A/V software and probably at least a basic firewall, correct? Why? Because you don't want your computer hacked/infected. If somebody chose not to do either, then got infected what would your reaction be? I'd assume something along the lines of "that sucks, here's what you can do to prevent it in the future". Hell, let's make it more basic, it's the same reason you have passwords and pin numbers.

That doesn't mean I feel it's OK to steal your info because you chose not to protect it. But I'm also not going to be terribly surprised when it happens nor will I be overcome with sorrow for you as it was easily preventable.

Yes she was wronged. Yes, the hacker(s) should be caught and punished harshly. Yes, it was a hard lesson for her to learn. But it was a LESSON to be learned and hopefully her and other people like her have learned to be a bit more careful with info they don't want made public.

It would be great if we lived in this world where we didn't need passwords and didn't have to worry about personal info being stolen. But we do have to worry about it, especially celebrities. It's not OK that people are targeting them, but they know they are targets and should act accordingly. It's not about "blaming the victim", it's about people having enough sense to protect themselves and realize this isn't some magical place where nobody has malicious intent.

Yes, but I do this stuff for a living, and the average person doesn't have time to be me. The average person includes most of my family, btw, whom I have to constantly warn against stupid internet behavior.

Don't get me wrong, what these women did was seriously stupid, and I will happily mock them along with everyone else. Hell I will mock them just for taking idiotic pictures like that. I just don't want to see the bad guys left out of the ridicule. If you think what the bad guys cost us all these days in terms of lost time and money in trying to protect our stuff, it's pretty staggering. When they catch someone who does this kind of thing I'd be happy to see him or her get a couple of decades in FPMITA-land.

This is how simple people think.

All of these women have a right to privacy. Don't you think they should? These pictures were stored on their phones, with an expectation of privacy; there was really no way to know that all of this was backing up online. Regardless of that, Apple should actually start taking security seriously for once, but we know they never will.

Sure, but it's hard to defend the victims when they are lashing out like JLaw is. Yes, you have a right to privacy and it was violated but that isn't akin to a sexual assault. Going after google for indexing and the people who viewed the pics as a crime is bat shit insane.
