I agree. It is her choice and she's been wronged... But we've been through that discussion of "comes with the territory" enough times in this thread already.

As for point two, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian would disagree. Eff it, given the degrading shit I've done for my shit paying jobs, I'd happily do it.

What's sad is so many here believe 'she asked for this'. They are pathetic.

This is the only part I disagree with...

"I promise you, anybody given the choice of that kind of money or having to make a phone call to tell your dad that something like that has happened, it’s not worth it."
She's talking about $34 million for Hunger Games. For $34 million I will post a video on Liveleak of me blowing my Labrador retriever while naked and smeared in peanut butter and send my Dad a link.

If she had been wearing clothes this wouldn't have happened.

(trying to do the opposite of the she was wearing slutty clothes and was asking for it but I think the logic fails miserably)

She earned her money. She has no need to do stuff like this for it.

She didn't earn $34million because of these pictures.

Of course not. Just saying I would. My reputation is only not worth $34 million if I already have $34 million.

Because one should think their device can be hacked easily?

umm yes

no one deserves to or asks to be robbed. it happens, houses are broken into, data is stolen and so on.

sure she (and the rest) were more of a target because they are famous, no different then someone who has a lot of money is a higher target for a home break in (they have better stuff)

its just the how the world we live in works.

It especially fails miserably given that we have had clothed leaks.

Time for a Kickstarter campaign? 😀

That's a pretty screwed up view on the world.

Actually those with a lot of money aren't usually the targets of break-ins considering most break-ins happen from those you know/live around you.

I guess anything can be rationalized here.

🙂 Well that's different. Some are saying she shouldn't care about these pictures since she makes so much money.

Fact is these are people just like you and me. They sit around in shorts, pajama pants, leave dishes on the coffee table at times, etc.

Just when we get to see them or their homes, everything is perfect...since they have 'people' to make sure of it.

With two-pass authentication, no and it's going to become more popular with the rich and famous.

We don't expect our banks to get hacked nor or merchants either, but it happens.

Have you stopped ordering online? Do you keep your cash under an old mattress?

The root of the problem here is ignorance.

People are generally ignorant to abandon when it comes to their data and the internet (this includes "the cloud").

I see media as a massive problem here as well, especially tech media which hypes "the cloud" all the time. Articles about security of the cloud and articles that advertise features and functionality of the cloud without giving dire warnings in giant bold letters saying DANGER: USE OF CLOUD SERVICES ARE INHERENTLY RISKY. DO NOT USE CLOUD SERVICES IF YOU ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WANT OTHERS TO SEE WHAT YOU USE THEM FOR. DO NOT ENABLE CLOUD SERVICES FOR YOUR SELFIES.

How many articles touting the enhanced security features of the new iOS and articles on how Holder has his panties in a bunch over said security features have bothered to point out that this is all a distraction to make Apple look like it cares about users data security. Apple is still strongly encouraging use of the iCloud, still talking about how secure iCloud is to encourage trust in iCloud. Why isn't Apple telling the media that none of these features will stop 'the law' from getting their data if they make use of iCloud. Apple retains the ability to decrypt and hand over anything that goes onto iCloud. iCloud is absolutely not secure and where is the media on this story?

so I say ignorance is the problem.
...ignorance in the layperson carefully cultured by a mass media that tailors their reporting to Apple's liking. What happened to a mass media (the big media that most people see and read) that asks tough questions and points out hypocrisy where it exists?

(note I'm not saying that apple is alone in this type of misdirection)

Well users aren't liable for financial crimes such as someone stealing their credit card info. Generally bank statements are pretty dull tings I'd wager. Someone hacks into my bank and sees $43 paid to Amazon and where I buy gas and... big whoop.

Putting self-poron-selfies on someone elses server (oops, "the cloud") is a bit different. Again I don't blame the hundreds of millions for their ignorance of those dangers though. I'd put responsibility on the very media that is outraged!!! that the celebs were hacked and their private moments shared. Were those media outlets to have been looking out for the common person's interests they would have pointed out the dangers of anything stored on anyone else's hard drives (especially when those drives are connected to the internet).

With almost everything moving to a cloud-based model, your views are extremely out of date already.

The problem was not the cloud, but the lack of security the device had. Going to the two-step authentication model almost entirely eliminates this risk...

...and it's still the 'cloud'.

would it be possible for Apple to automatically encrypt everything on iCloud using forward-secret encryption and storing the master key only in one place... the User's iPhone.

Then keeping the current "we can't break into the phone" setup?

A system like that would be pretty good I'd say.
Weak point would still be the biometric key &/or the 4-digit pin code

encryption increases the disk space and slows the access.

Definitely. $34 million Vietnamese Dong is only about $1600 USD...Markbnj didn't specify it had to be USD...:sneaky:

You raise the bucks, and with the appropriate legal agreements in place my labrador is going to have a good night.

And sorry, Akugami, the '$' is short for USD. No play money allowed.

Our favorite nympho JLaw did an interview and seems she wants "those responsible" to be prosecuted for sex crimes. Also said the images were made for her loving boyfriend while in a long distance relationship.
