Although I am not really interested in the content (mainly because I don't know why any of these celebrities are), I have been following this story. I constantly see threads on reddit with links to these pictures and then the threads immediately get deleted.

Reddit was supposed to be the bastion of free speech. Why are these photos/videos being so well protected against proliferation?

Because stealing is not free speech.

The fappening collection is name of the popular RAR archive over 1GB of size. That seems to be what some folks here are looking for...

I don't understand why people don't get this. Yes, I've seen the pictures and videos. And yes, I feel a little scuzzy for looking at them, but in no way do I feel the celebrities deserved it or should be blamed or we should have some right to view the pictures. These were privately taken, privately stored, privately shared. If they'd been posted by the celebrities themselves on 4chan it'd be a different story, but they were stolen in every sense of the word. Why do some people feel it's their God-given right to post and view these private pictures?

Do you guys think that the Olivia Munn picts with the text to some guy named Chris and the Dong in the picts have gotten into the head of Oivias BF Packer GB Rodgers?

Guy probably feels awful for her at the least. He has sucked the last few weeks.

This.

I haven't really been paying that much attention, but was it all just women with these pictures? I haven't really heard of "actor so-and-so shoving a gerbil up his ass". Or are they just not publishing the dudes?

I'm curious whether it is only women that feel compelled to take compromising pictures of themselves. That would be a very interesting data point.

No, theres a ridiculous number of people taking nude selfies and posting them to iCloud. The thieves only scanned for celebs and pretty much only females it seems.

Had they more time and more motivation, they could have also posted the girl next door.

So you yourself went and sought these pics/videos out, but then post that people don't have the right to see them? 😵

I think he's admitting he couldn't help himself, and just wants the rest of humanity to feel a certain sense of shame when viewing these pics. You don't need a lot of shame. Just some. You can fit it in between album pages.

Mostly duplicate images. IIRC, it turned out to be <500MB of unique content (no more than any other), and would have been smaller if made a solid archive. IoW, trolling with actual content.

They have been doing exactly that, just that not enough people know or cared, with them not being celebs. Shortly before anon-ib became a site down message, after I read about just that, I checked out their /stol board, and there were how-tos, requests, etc., for random people. Celebs just let it become more common knowledge, it seems.

Did you read the sentence following? I feel a little bit like a scuzzball for looking at them, and I honestly feel that looking at them was wrong. I still chose to do it, but I have absolutely zero problem admitting it was wrong. I see people all over the internet acting like they have a right to see the pictures and videos and blaming the celebrities for trusting cloud storage. These people are doing something wrong and blaming somebody else. That's the part I don't understand. If you want to look at them, look at them. If you want to partially blame the celebrities for putting too much faith in the security of the cloud or not educating themselves on how best to protect those pictures or at least hiring somebody to do it for them, that's fine too. But what is not right is acting like you are entitled to look at them and there is nothing wrong with the theft. It was still theft, plain and simple.

The analogy in my mind is this: Say somebody stole a bunch of iPads from an Amazon warehouse and is selling them out of his van for half the price of a new one, and it's obvious he stole them. I still might buy one. I'm still going to acknowledge that buying one from him is probably wrong and I'm still going to acknowledge that he is a thief. I can even hold Amazon partially responsible for allowing the vulnerability that the thief exploited to begin with. But what I'm not going to do is feel like I'm entitled to buy these iPads at half price because it "serves Amazon right". I can do something and still admit to myself and others that it was wrong. Might not make me the most morally grounded person, but why can't other people admit the same thing?

Damn Olivia win the internet with her, I don't like her body, but she's pretty cute AND the text added to them! If I didn't know otherwise I would have thunk some internet perv added all the extra raunchy text to them. Holy shit she's a freak! Sex with her would probably be some out of this world make you get a painful ass cramp in your calve before you pass out shit.

Thank you for sharing your sexual arousal with us.

hey nice broad brush you have there
Sorry, I should have mentioned there are men who don't want to see the pics but do it out of curiosity and end up feeling super ashamed afterwards.

In my defense I felt bad, but I only looked at the 3 females I really wanted to see. So that makes it better, or something lol
