Chase and Discover called me on Sunday saying there was suspicious activity (calls) on my accounts...When the caller couldn't answer the security questions, they hung up...
I also received 2 emails on Sunday as well from Wells Fargo and Barclay USA (AA credit card formerly US Airways) asking to complete a survey about my recent communication which was not good since I have not contacted either company in years. They even put a new phone number on the Barclay card (I live in Dallas and it was 305 area code)...guess Wells and Barclay security isn't as robust as Chase/Discover...
I haven't used the Discover or Barclay card since last summer...the Wells Fargo card is about 2 years old and has NEVER been used...
I don't keep an electronic file of my CC#'s so they couldn't have retrieved a list of them from me...
I have cancelled these cards as well all of my other cards and had new account numbers reissued...I went ahead and froze my credit reports on Experian and Transunion...need to request a pin from Equifax to freeze that one...
Pretty strange they were able to get the card numbers for these accounts...I can understand hackers getting one account number but 4 (that I know of)??? the credit reports don't have accounts numbers, do they??
There were no fraudulent charges on any of the cards...they just called the credit card company to get balance info, etc...
