Hacker Group To Take Aim At Facebook

Meh, I would guess they fail at doing anything even remotely damaging to facebook.

HAHAHAHAH

You don't really think that do you?

If they go in an corrupt a database I'm sure they could.

Let me make it simple. If the database is as elegant as the web site layout, they could detroy it quite easily.

the need to hack in a system wide blight that only effects farmville

holy shit the outrage would be epic

and i woud laugh

Is it possible, sure. But with 2 months warning (unless they're already in), good luck.

I could really care less either way, would actually be funny if they did bring it down, I just doubt it's going to happen is all.

I'm sure they have backups out the wazoo.

While I would like to see them able to do something of this scale, if only for the fear it would strike into other organizations who fail to secure their systems properly.

But, on the other side of this, Facebook should welcome such a challenge as a means of securing their systems better. They have time to prepare as it stands right now. They probably should be looking inside their organization though for people with knowledge of their system architecture for a leak or insider.

I suspect that the best that will happen here is a DDoS attack, but, it's possible Anonymous has some key information that no one knows about. Hope they don't use Oracle databases! 😀

Hmm guess if there's any personal info we don't want the world to see, now's the time to go remove it. Then again, it should not be there in first place.

What I don't get is why the goverment does not go after Anonymous. They've done enough damage to Sony alone and now they are putting out all these threats.

The number of computers you would need to take Facebook offline would be staggering.

With all the botnets out there because people are too stupid to secure their crap, it's doable I say.

People who leave their computers become part of a botnet should be held accountable when it comes to stuff like this imo.

If they screw up my wife's Farmville and Cafeworld, they're gonna have a whole world of hurt on them.

I once saw her turn someone inside out after cancelling a recording of Housewives of New Jersey.

Is this the first video they have released? I've never seen one before. They are pretty much becoming a full on terrorist group (if it really is a group, I guess anyone can claim to be Anonymous).

Yep. Bottom line, not too hard to do a DDoS. Facebook doesn't have unlimited resources.

They attempted to DDoS Amazon and failed miserably, you may recall. Granted, Amazon made a business out of the fact that their web architecture is nearly bulletproof, but I imagine Facebook's isn't too far off either.

Big tech companies employee much better nerds than governments and police stations.

I will take a wait and see approach then. Will be interesting to see what happens. Hopefully Facebook is taking this time to ensure they've got it all right with regards to their network equipment, servers, databases, and internet connection points.

Uhh, no. Facebook has ample warning to bring more servers online if need be and Anonymous crashed and burned when they tried to DDoS Amazon, who barely even noticed the increased requests.

Taking a website down like Mastercard or VISA is infinitely easier than taking down a site that is already configured to handle hundreds of millions of users.

Zuck made it a point to not have downtime in the early stages of the game. I'm sure he has spent tens of millions (maybe more) on securing the website from any sort of attack. They hire the best and brightest and pay them WELL to make sure nothing can happen to the site - it would be catastrophic to their business.

Don't think this planned attack is going to do anything, just as it didn't to Amazon. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Facebook almost wants the attack to happen to make sure what they have in place is going to hold up.

They can't even make an HD warning for youtube? 240p?? What did they do? Have the lowest ranking minion create that?
