Is there any way to tell if your pc was hacked to get critical info? My mother in law seems to think thats how someone got her credit card and personal info.

You can try scanning for spyware, etc... to see if something is monitoring her usage. Otherwise, I'd say she needs to be careful to whom she gives out her CC number.

Else, I'm with Phil.

well most credit cards offer some sort of protection, if she is really worried tell her to call the bank and the credit card people.

This is a program i was hacked with a while back ago.....

I recommend to do as Zolty says first. Don't jump to conclusions though it could just be from spyware monitoring and/or it could be something like dphantom said.

But with this program called BO......who ever 'hacks' you then they can control your computer just as you can. Sometimes you don't even know. I'd say you'd have to have bought something off the net using that same CC # before the 'hacker' could gain access to it. But even then it would be difficult to do because of passwords, pins, security #'s etc.

If you truly think you have this program that site above will show you how to get rid of it without reinstalling windows.

Hope some of this info helped. :)

Tell her to put a watch on her credit report that will often be the first indication that someone is trying to use her name or idenity.

Had to read this thread - I thought you had 'hacked' your mo in law [with a sharp tool] and was showing off. silly boy.

How savvy is your mother in law?
What OS/AV/anti-malware/firewall is she running?
