the diff parts are diff ewpisodes of teh series. and there is gonna be a PS2 game based on it that comes in 3 parts

so which one should i watch first
the two i know of are .hack//sign and .hack//Legend of Twilight's Bracelet
 
There's..

.hack//sign (1-26)
.hack//liminalty (1-4, only 3 have been released)
.hack//infection (game, 4 volumes I believe)
.hack//udeden (so far it's up to 9)

Udeden sometimes goes by Dusk or just Legend of Twilight's Bracelet.

yeah...i'm currently watching .hack//sign...it's on cartoon network @ the moment....it's interesting...

Is it dubbed? I don't have cable here in the dorms.. so I miss alot of what goes on on CN..
 
Yes it is, and it's different from the japanese version. At least from what I saw, one of the first eps (on cartoon network). I saw the whole Sign series, but I'm getting sick of main characters who have no backbone, can't make decisions, and stand around going "Eh..... um...." with dramatic music in the background.
 
Some guy playin CS used something along that name (hack) as his nic. Needless to say he was quickly banned, and protested on the forums. I found it all rather funny that everyone is so damned paraniod anymore on CS that even a nic referencing an anime gets you banned because they dont know any better.....
 
It's just one perticular scene I saw. Where Tsukasa's talking to the girl, and he's playing with a beetle on his staff. His whole attitude seemed different, like he was almost playing around. In the subbed version, he came off as a self pitying loner. *shrugs*

.hack//AI BUSTER takes place before the anime, .hack//SIGN. In it, the Long Arm player, Albireo, a system admin of The World, discovers an A.I. named Lycoris. It's a short novel that can be purchased at Amazon of Japan.

.hack//SIGN takes place before the games, and is about a Wavemaster named Tsukasa who finds himself unable to log out of The World. All 26 episodes originally aired on TV Tokyo from April to September of 2002.

The .hack game series is for the PlayStation 2, and comes in four volumes. It follows the story of Kite. Kite was playing The World with his friend Orca, when they ran into an odd monster. As a result, Orca has fallen into a coma In Real Life, and Kite now continues playing to find out why this happened.


.hack//Another Story is like an episode 27 to .hack//SIGN, and tells the story from Mimiru's PoV. It's basically like a tie-up and aftermath to .hack//SIGN

.hack//LIMINALITY takes place concurrently with the games. It is not sold separately, it's only sold with the volumes of the game.

.hack//DUSK takes place four years after the games end. In an online contest of some sort, two twins, Shugo and Rena Kunizaki, win the character avatars of the legendary .Hackers, Kite and BlackRose. The anime version is airing currently in Japan, and the manga installments are being published monthly inside Comptiq magazine.

 
It is a horrible game. Not sure how the anime is, but save yourself the money of renting it. I was looking for a good rpg and thought ok this looks interesting. DUmbest game evar.

I disagree... it's a RPG like no other. I personally am not a RPG fan (never played any of the FF series, or Link games..) but this is one game that was addicting to me.

Someone told me the 'combat style' is "kingdom hearts-like" .. whatever that means... never played that game either.

My main game styles are Simulators (flight, driving, etc) and FPS.
