Condensation occurs any time a surface is cooled to the dewpoint or lower. In the tropics the dewpoints frequently are in the mid 70s!

The purpose of this is to see how well the cooler works if the radiator capacity would be increased. Of course connecting the H50 to a quad radiator is silly. Some have modded it by doing similar. IMO if you want to do this you might as well just do it the right way starting with a block, pump, reservoir, radiator, etc. :)

and your tests tell me that its not on the radiator side if your tubing was cold.

Its more on the block component, and efficiency of it.

However keep note that a nice cpu blocks can go as high as 80 dollar for a XT / KL-360.

Great idea!

On the H50 would it be a bad idea to extend the tubes? Is it even possible? I might pick one up used... I need to find something to replace the P4 HSF on my E8400

Go pick up a $20 Cooler Master Hyper 212+ from Micro Center instead.

Yes, it is possible.

I think it would be a bad idea because it was designed as a sealed system and there wouldn't be any easy way to fill it. Basically if you want to buy one to mod to your needs, you may as well just go with a custom loop and buy used or buy a cheap custom kit.

If you're looking to water cool an LGA 775 cpu I imagine that finding used real stuff for cheap wouldn't be too hard. Most water coolers are more interested in LGA 1366 now, so it's not uncommon to find used LGA 775 blocks for a decent price.

Don't quote me on this but IIRC, it averages out to about 17f below ambient.

Looks like fun testing, I love posts like this.

Dewpoint is a function of relative humidity. At 100% dewpoint equals ambient. ;)

Meh... lost too many hardware from condensantion when i was TECing cpu directly..

Vow'd wouldnt go there again unless i was absolutely bored.

Properly utilized enthalpy controllers prevent condensation from being an issue. Where are the engineers when you need them?! :p

Yeah with the "chiller" setups it's a risk. You can get some really great temps using it though, but you just have to cover everything in insulation.
