Just wondering. Looking at maybe getting some ASRock DeskMini barebones STX rigs, and wondering about Kaby Lake compatibility, and RAM speeds.

The H110 board takes DDR4 SO-DIMMs. Skylake only supports 2133 speeds unless you're on a Z170 chipset.

I thought I had heard rumors that KBL would support 2400 by default.

So, if I can drop in a KBL i3 CPU in the near future, I'll get a 2x16GB GSkill 2400 kit.

Also, would dropping in a KBL automagically upgrade the boards support to HDMI2.0 / 4K@60, or is that still limited by the board design and / or firmware?

Or should I wait 6 months, and get whatever the then-current ASRock STX box is, with explicit KBL design support and HDMI2.0 support?

I would wait and get an updated chipset board.

I would guess that while KL will fit and work, you would lose some of the features.
