[H]Titanfall just 6v6

It could either be an EPIC competitive game, or just trash constrained by the aging source engine.

Considering how it's all hyped up to be a story driven MP game I'm leaning towards trash, and not competitive at all. No truly competitive game would EVER dream of having AI involved in killing players.

Yup, it will never be taken seriously for competitive play due to having AI involve.

I can't stand small teams multiplayer, I am much more a battlefield type of person where the larger the better. I like at least 10-12 people per team for an fps title.

I wasn't too sure about this game, seemed kind of fast paced. Now 6v6 only?
And I forgot aren't these the two guys who said "PC Gamers don't need dedicated servers any longer"

6v6 would be fine for something like Arena CTF... or really almost any Arena-style FPS match; however, Titanfall appeared to be open-world. Although, I guess they could have the Titan mechs crash through the ceiling, which would be kind of bad ass. 😛

I'm going with Titanfail for now. There better be something magically that I don't know about because this just killed the game for me.

I don't understand how people are so against smaller battles now, especially in a fast paced shooter.

For people who constantly cry games like Quake and Unreal are gone, you sure seem to forget these weren't 40v40 battles.

*cough*
COD Killstreaks

4v4 TDM/ CTF/ Clan Arena, or bust!

I think great map design can go a long way, here. More vertical combat, please and thanks!

Why not? Its still a competition.

I have no problems with mixing PVE and PVP. I think its weird how people feel they must be separated.

Im guessing its people who need excuses when they die or lose. "We would have won if it wasnt for the AI!!! We're better than you!!!"

Or an epeen thing. They need to feel like theyre better than other players. Which Im still not sure how mixing PVE with PVP would effect that.

Now the low numbers of players with this game I see as a problem.

You pretty much summed up why this can't be competitive 😛

The "random-ness" of having AI opponents/enemies and the fact that having PvE is the opposite of what competitive shooters generally are is the main issue.

COD killstreaks were disabled in Promod, which was the only real competitive way that COD (COD4 specifically) was ever played.

So they'll mod TF to ban AI mechs for "competition."

I'd rather they focus on making the game fun vs. completely balanced for competition nerds.

I think some are you are making way too much out of it. Without playing the game, there is no way to know what type of balancing was needed. There are so many armchair developers these days. 😛

More of a "oh, these guys made COD and I hate that for no reason, obviously this game is going to be awful too!" reaction.

Claiming "omg it is 6v6, therefore a failure" before even playing it is pretty stupid. The amount of players on the map at once is trivial if the gameplay isn't enhanced by it. In an arena style shooter, having 50 people running around at once is stupid.

But it is competitive, unless you mean competitive in some sort of slang sense.

There are 2 teams fighting against each other in order to meet some sort of win state, therefor its competitive.

And another thing is its still a competition with the PVE. Its who's better at dealing with the PVE or using the PVE.

Honestly, Titanfall never appealed to me. The minute I saw it I realized that it was your average shooter, with some brink style parkour, and mechs. Oh, wow mechs COOL!, nope I don't really care. For a new IP to come out in 2014, be a ONLINE FPS, and then tell me that its 6v6 with A.I. This is a joke, and its been a joke since the minute we saw it. The game was misleading, it had people thinking there was going to be 20v20 pvp battles. Oh, I almost forgot, the graphics look completely dated.

The thing about the armchair developers is that they are the people putting hundreds of hours into playing and breaking the game. They know what works and what doesn't. The issue these days is that corporate types are dictating too much to devs and they have vastly different ideas about what a game should be which makes the devs lose touch with their customers.

They also already said no mod tools so good luck modding the game into something competitive.

Honestly game publishers are no longer interested in making masterpieces. They trickle out incremental improvements to keep us buying every year. I remember when one amazing game would stay constantly played for 4-5 years.

It's amazing how much judgement people are casting on a game they haven't played yet. You people are ridiculous.

If you can prove that some of the people complaining in this thread are on Respawn's payroll and are actively "putting in hundreds of hours" into a Titanfall beta build I'll stand corrected. As for the rest of your post, that's a larger problem that the industry faces in general but there is zero proof that Titanfall will suffer a bad fate because of it.

Everyone is entitled to opinions, but I would hope they would have some sort of evidence to back them up. In this case, simply saying that Titanfall will fail just because it's 6v6 is really silly. Make a case using actual anecdotal gameplay, and I'll take it seriously.

Personally I think 6v6 is great. I have never played a multiplayer FPS game with more than 8v8 that I enjoyed.

After years and years of small 3 on 3 and even 1 on 1 Ut and Quake 3 I'm done with that type of game too. I can't help but feel titanfall is too hyped to succeed the way the media thinks.

It's amazing how much judgement people are casting on a game they haven't played yet. You people are ridiculous.

We can judge all we want because it's our money being spent. We can go through every tidbit with a fine tooth comb if we want. As consumers you should welcome this and not be against it. Being against criticism is detrimental to the industry.

I laughed because this is pretty true. Oh joy another FPS. How many do we need? We definitely need one online...wait that's been done over and over. Well how about adding AI. Ai generally sucks in games and 6v6 doesn't seem that interesting when Killzone on PS4 supports more players and that isn't an online only title.
