If you were able to take advantage of the great deals NeoV provided us with, please be a pal and pledge a couple bucks (more is always nice) to help pay for this gift from the anandtech community. We're about at 50% pledged and 25% collected, still a ways to go.

Been getting a lot of wonderful concerned emails about NEO... I just wanted to share this one from a cash challenged college student!!!!!

Hi,
I just read the thread on Neo.
I'm really sorry to read that, it is truly a tragedy.
I'm very new here, so I didn't get in on any of neo's deal. But i believe in that being nice / kind needs no reason, and you get back what you give.
I don't have much (just a college student who just found anandtech last month or 2 ago), but I would like to contribute a couple of bucks (literally, I cannot afford much).
If possible then I can paypal a couple bucks, if u would accept that.
lmk.

Neo got the monitor today! He wanted to thank everyone for the show of generosity. I thank all of you who have chipped in up until now and urgently ask anyone else who was able to save money with (or grossly profit from ;) ) the OMax deals to please send a few bucks. I'm wanting to be in for $50. Presently I'm personally in for $350 and would like to see that drop.

Please consider chipping in for the monitor, especially if you were able to save a bunch or make money on the deal(s). Still looking for people to help with the cost. I paid the full amount personally already. Doh.

I am in, just waiting for Paypal to load the money, damn I hate being in Korea. takes forever to get anything done.
I of course haven't been able to participate in a lot of these deals since I am stuck here in Korea for a while, but I have been with the boards for over two years and saved a tremendous amount of money by people sharing on the deals.
Thanks Neo for the effort and Hoss for the gift.
Will get you that 25 bucks as soon as it loads.

Hoss, I know how you feel,
If anybody thinks he is going to make money off of you, think again. Having been on the receiving end of managing Soda/Coffee funds and Going away parties for 18 yrs. I have rarely ever gotten as much money as I have put in for these events/funds.
For those of you who might read this, if you have some spare change, a couple of bucks in your PAYPAL account drop it in the mail to Hoss. I would really hate to see him have to eat a couple of hundred bucks for doing a great gesture for an outstanding contributer to the Hot Deals Forum.
Good Luck Hoss, and Let me know what the final total is.

Hoss:

$$ on it's way as of a few minutes ago.

Had to go without a couple of those $47 HP Pavilions @ Staples B&M to make this happen,
but I know it's worth it :)

Not only that, but it's a reminder to the rest of us to keep our heads on straight. If we hadn't gotten all buttwacky about his posts he might not have kept on posting and he might have kept his job. (And Gore might have won and monkeys might have flown out of my butt ;) )

I used to work at ValueAmerica and lost my job when they closed the shop because of leechers in here. Anyone cares to donate me some $$ so I can feed my family? I was laid off again 2 days ago by Buy.com due to the economy slowdown. Thanks! BTW, your donation is tax-deductible and appreciated by 3 hungry mouths in my family.

Junior, you are such an ahole. This is no joke. If you want donation, turn on your profile. Otherwise, get lost and feed your dck into those 3 hungry mouths in your family.

What? just because I'm a junior, i dont deserve the needy donation? Some funerals refuse donation because they think it's an insult that the family members cant even afford to take care of the dead. Noone dies here, and if the dude has a baby and cant afford it, apply for foodstamp. Or in the worst scenario, Mcdonald's. Suddenly, I feel so MOOSHY MOOSHY in this dog-eat-dog forum, where ppl refresh every minute to see if there's any "misprice" error on amazon and hope they can sue the retailers for not honoring their mistakes! hah! get real!

PS. Still want donation? I got plenty of pennies laying around my desk. I really appreciate any effort to clean them out. Free of charge,,,you hear it right.....

Loser working at Mcdonalds? You better never order there again in your life!!! my friends gonna spit in your food. At least I'm proud of myself dragging my ass at 5AM to work and earn my own money. Not depending on donation from forums on the net. Now you tell me, who's the loser? hah! smell like a welfare dependent, always need this and that and it has to come from other ppl's pocket.......

Your President G Bush....get off the welfare line and work at Mcdonald's!!!

As I've said before, every bit helps, even pennies. I felt that this gesture in some way made an effort to apologize for encouraging the posts; to say "I'm sorry for showering praise on ya". I believe that we, the deal-hunters are responsible, in part. We didn't make NeoV post the info, but we sure as hell showered praise on him for doing so. He didn't ask for anything in return.

I think of this less as donation and more of a tithing of sorts, a giving back of a small % of deals you were able to take advantage of. Had NeoV not posted, we quite possibly never have known about the deals. For those people who have, or are planning to, chip in: Thanks. If I've gone a bit overboard I apologize. I've felt good about my choice and by the efforts of everyone here to cover the cost of the monitor sent. I've had messages from 30 people now either sending money or pledging to help out. (Have collected just over 50% with around 70% pledged.)

Hoss, right on.
Junior, if you don't know the detail, find out first. We are not making a donation because NeoV cannot make it. We are showing how we appreicate the help from him. And chipping in for baby shower gift. He did NOT ask for any of these.
As for you, turn on your profile, and you will get all the donation you will ever need.
