Newegg has pretty good deal on H&R Block Tax Software for 2024, all editions but the Premium + Business seems to be the best deal. $45 after $5 promo code (on product page), limited time offer. Includes 5 Federal returns and 1 state return. You get a product key from Newegg and link to download from H&R Block website/servers.

Close to the minimum price that has shown up in recent years. Looks like Federal + State is $25 (mail in State or they offer to Efile it for another $15). Federal by itself $20 and included 5 efiles.

Deluxe + State (which is usually what I get) is $25, and includes 5 federal e-files. But note that they don't give you free state e-filing (unless required by your state).

From past years, the best prices often come in January, if you want to hold out a bit longer.

I agree, I usually buy the deluxe +state from Amazon and it's generally $18-22 for me. You just have to check occasionally.

25 is a decent price from their list price if what, 60?

I get for two family members, one has rental income the other self-employed/business income. The installable/desktop version of Tax Act Self-Employed which I've used for many years is $160 now. Tax Act's 'online' products that must be done through web not installed locally are significantly cheaper, more competitive with 'regular' pricing for H&R Block but this H&R Block product is installable/desktop version which I prefer. $50 v. $160 no contest.

I was going to try to cajole some kind of competitive discount out of Tax Act by threatening to go with H&R block if they didn't, but their support reps were closed for weekend and I didn't want to miss out on the H&R deal if they said no, and then the deal expired. So I bought it.

The list price is usually around $50 or so. But $25 isn't bad for a piece of desktop software that is relatively easy to use and walks you through all you need to complete your tax return*. And it's fine to jump on this now if you need it sooner, for say, tax planning or year-end tax estimations.

(I would say that this specifically applies to those with investments or other things that start to complicate returns; if you just have W2 wages, you don't need something this fancy).

Now $22.99 if you get Deluxe+State in combination with a piece of security software:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails?ItemList=Combo.4756552 (+ Bitdefender)

There is also one bundle for Norton360 or McAfee, but I wouldn't wish those on anyone. From reports on SlickDeals, you don't need to install the other piece of software if you just want the tax software deal.

It's tempting, but I just don't use any of those pieces of security software. Kind of holding out for a + gift card type deal that showed up last year.

I give them away to peoples (friends or family) who are less savvy and need a security product but I can't take them paying $40 ~ $60 per year.

Dang that's even better! Of course I already bought.:D

But I did need the business and self-employed income stuff so Deluxe wouldn't have sufficed.

Oh that reminds me, Ebay has competitive prices too. I purchased boxed version (keycard with download link) of H&R Block 2024 Premium + Business for $38 delivered. Cheaper than the original Newegg deal! I got it and was sealed product, legit.
