H.264 is the shiz

I've gone on about this sort of thing before, but I fianlly got the codec, and might even be purchasing a convertor to convert family films, and I am truely amazed at how good it is....

I'll post clips later. For some odd reason, tons of people on the web says you don't need the codec to play it😕

Either way, I think you will need the codec to play these files.

The CPU usage for the material, especially when encoding, is, as one Mike Tyson would put it, "devastating." 🙁

You think it's going to be used in appliances (BlueRay/HDDVD boxes)? If so, worth looking into, if not, why bother encoding family videos in something that you will not be able to share with any of your family?

I believe HD-DVD will be using it...

I just emailed a company asking if they give the codec with program purchase for just that. Since it is a subset of mpeg4, somehow I think I understand what people were talking about, in terms of not needing anythign special.
