I love the lady gypsies. They're awesome.

It's a culture of not having a home, really. They're roaming people, and they need to make their living while being on the move. They live for being on the move. I'm not exactly sure where it comes from, but it's usually something to do with being displaced by an invader and simply never looking back. It's kind of romantic, really.

QFT!

Not to mention that the Roma/Romani names are totally made-up bullshit, for the sake of the world confusing them with Romanians, a real people with a real country.

Gypsies is what they are - no other name!

See how romantic it gets when they rob you blind!

I hate hearing these romantic fantasies about gypsies - they always come from people who never had any real interaction with them.

I dated a gypsy girl (native american) for 2 years before her family left. I also met a few of her friends and family friends, they're delightful people. Far more cheerful than most people I've met, anyway.

I've talked to a few of them about the whole "robbing you blind" aspect of it, too. They've told me that, for the most part, gypsies love to entertain for money, they're not trying to steal from you or trick you.

Yeah, I don't know shit, do I?

Where the hell are you getting your information, anyway?

I live in a country with quite a number of gypsies and, here at least, they have a bad rep. Two recent events show the twisted idea they have of justice: don't touch or dis me, take all the abuse I give you.
(1) A non-gypsy truck driver bumped and knocked down a gypsy girl who had run into the street. She was unharmed and it was her fault. The driver was dragged from his vehicle and killed by a group of gypsy onloookers.
(2) A gypsy folk singer, while driving without a license, hit and killed a pedestrian and drove off from the scene. When tracked down, the family first alleged a brother, a minor, had been driving to lower any sentencing. When this was uncovered as a ruse and the folk singer was prosecuted instead, there was a gral uproar in the gypsy community about "persecution." First sentence was one to three years in jail, which the victim's family appealed as too lenient. In spite of death threats, this family persevered and the sentence was doubled.

One gypsy woman who comes into the tapas restaurant I own plays the loving and friendly type to ask for constant favors, bums cigarettes off other patrons, and will turn into a cursing foul-mouth beast whenever anyone refuses any of her many claims to "payo" charity (payos are non-gypsies in their lingo). Why not refuse her entry? Well, I need my windows. What I do do is use a bit of subterfuge to get her to move on (she ain't too smart).

Whether or not gypsies are a race, an ethnicity or simply a culture, their meme set is self-serving and unethical. I have no respect at all for professional victims/victimizers. Any culture with this tilt is hardly deserving of anything but scorn. As far as I am concerned, the only good gypsies are on the road and heading in the other direction.

That's a nice mini-essay you got yourself there.

Just a question, but... Are you a white supremacist, or any kind of nationalist? You sound about as blind as one.

I'm confused, how can a Native American Indian be a Roma/Gypsie?

I've never seen a gypsie in the United States. I lived in Brazil for a few years, and lived in a small town that had a gypsie colony on the outskirts. They lived in big circus type tents, and always had loud music playing. They leeched electricity to power their music using long extension chords. I always wanted to walk into a big tent because I'm pretty sure I would have found a large pile of treasure.

The women would go to the downtown everyday and sit and beg. They generally wore pretty long elaborate and colorful yet tattered dresses. I never saw one entertaining. They always looked sad and pathetic. I sat next to a few gypsie men on buses and I would always catch them eying down my watch (even though it was a $5 walmart special) and acting quite slippery in general.

I don't know what or who gypsies are, but I have just grown a new found hate for 'em. Thank you, ATOT.

I always thought it funny that my dad referred to them as shit pumpers. They'd come by his store sometimes.

Then he corrected me one day and said not to call them all shit pumpers, it was just the ones who were running the septic tank pumping business. Woops

lol

hah @ shit pumpers.

Regardless of any arguments of racism and political correctness, the vast majority of gypsies seem to be dishonest thieves/beggars.

Nobody cares about the sickening PC trend, but thanks.

...blah blah blah

re-fixed

PC is half of what is making the modern world so damned soft. one of the things we really need to get rid, or at least cut back on. and one of the few things the Russians have right is the lack of PC over in their country.

blah blah blah was a misquote.

I said sorry to hear...I was being sarcastic and stating 91TTZ was a roma.

damn, read and try not to just react.

If you like Russia though it'd be pretty easy to move there.

Being PC has nothing to do with being soft, it has to do with not being offensive to a person because of something they can't control

PC doesn't apply to the stupid or idiotic. That's what bleeding hearts are about.

Well, for starters, you state that she's a gypsy and then say she's native American. They're not gypsies.

I have no idea what the hell you were thinking.
