$29/person for a week. That's too easy. Our local supermarket sells these party size meals for $10.99 regularly. For a single person, these last a good three to four days each. The rest can be used to purchase side dishes.
^Slew Foot's hardcore bro. I bet he doesn't even wear shoes, hence his name.
FTFYI'm not sure that (diet in OP) would even work out to 1k/day.
Also, anybody working manual labor like that (to require that calorie intake) probably is earning enough money to buy decent food.
If your TDEE is that high, you probably should lose weight.
Yep, but oranges would be better. Two birds with one stone (sustenance and vitamin C).
just make a dish u can put over rice (like curried tofu) and its not that hard
You need way more nutrients than Vitamin-C to live.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s SNAP challenge is certainly well publicized, but is it accurate?

THose on Food stamps get $29/person per week.
The #FoodBankNYCChallenge is meant to raise awareness about hunger and the struggle to live on a budget of just $29 per person for a week.
Participants can use coupons, but they cannot use food that was already in their homes or food given to them by others.

lol I am a 160lb man and that would NOT feed me for a week or provide nearly the amount of energy my brain would need to function at work'
Surprised there isn't a sleeve of cigarettes under those veggies.

So now the poor need a Costco membership, a freezer, the extra electric for the freezer and a place that actually allows you to have a freezer. It would be nice to buy bulk groceries but it isn't reality for most people.Costco FTW!
they carry both.
plus mushrooms by the case
plus peas by the gallon
plus eggs by the gazillion
hell.. brown rice, crack an egg in it while it's cooking, then smother w/soy sauce + pepper

I know two single people, one that gets social security and the other on social security disability. They both get a little over $800 a month each and they get a little over $30 a month in snap benefits.

But here is where they get you. They (sometimes) get raises in their social security and then their Snap benefits and HUD benefits adjust and are cut to the point to where it takes all of the raise and then some. There is no accounting for inflation (for the time being) so they get squeezed a little bit every year.Yes, but the $30 is to help out, not to live on.
