Guys with small ones -- do any girls find them attractive?

Okay, here's the situation. In the future, I am thinking about getting a dog for companionship. An added benefit of having a dog is that I heard that they are great for attracting women.

I would prefer a large breed dog like a rottreiller, labrador retriever etc. but am worried that these breeds need more room to be happy. They probably won't do well in a condo or small townhouse.

I like small dogs (they are cute) but am worried that when people see a 38 year old bachelor with no girlfriend living alone with a small dog they will think I am gay.

So my question is: Are there any girls out there that are attracted to guys with small ones?

You can get a small dog and not be seen as gay, ya old fart. ;) :p

I think you should be fine. There are manly small dogs out there. The Jack Russell is one of them. :)

Get a Mastiff. Sure, they are huge (160-200 pounds), but they like to lay around and do nothing:)

Just get a dog that you like, ignore what others might think. Do what you want and be honest to yourself.. girls like that.

You could compromise with something like a beagle.

i dont like small yappy dogs, they frighten me, especially if they jump up all over me or run around me barking.

i prefer bigger dogs, labs, german shepards etc.

but get a dog that suits your needs and wants.

*kat. <-- likes her doggie.

I agree with getting a Jack Russell Terrier, like Eddie on Frasier. Soo cute and playful, and smart to boot. :)

Or how about a Samoyed? That's a picture of mine. Ain't she a cutie? She's medium-sized and verry affectionate, pretty much an attention-whore :)P) and would probably attract the ladies as well!

<< only puppies, when they get bigger throw em away. >>

It's a mentality like that that causes much animal suffering in the world. :|

When choosing a dog (small ones are fine, btw :) ) do a bit of research on it before you get it. A lot of dogs get dumped because they are the wrong kind of dog for the environment it's put in.

I agree, I have a Beagle and although they are extremely cute, they are hounds and were bred as "hunting dogs" so they're a lot more manly than, say, a Bichon Frise or something. :D

The benefit of having a small dog over a big one (as far as attracting women goes) is that chicks are sometimes scary of big dogs (especially rotweillers) so that might keep them AWAY.

But the point of having a dog is not to get women, it is for companionship! Plus, how cool would it be for you to find a woman that LOVES rotweiller's like you do? Get what you want and you'll find a chick that likes them too.

Small dogs are great...and get a mutt if you want less problems. Mutts tend to have better temperments and also less health problems (vet bills are freakin expensive).

I have a cocker spaniel/poodle cross (a.k.a. "Cockapoo") and he's a great small-to-medium size dog. Very smart, good with both kids and adults, good temperment, and never gets sick. This mix also sheds no hair

BWAHAHAHA!

That thing looks like a stuffed animal with a really, really bad attitude. Thing looks like it's ready to go on a killing rampage. Then again, I'd probably look that pissed off too if I had a fur do like that :D

Youve got a major point about having to find a dog that will fit in its space cause if you dont the dog will be miserable and make you miserable too. I have recently went through the same thing and having previoulsy owned a Jack Russell I know they are NOT suited well for apartment living unless you are home a lot and planning on taking it out for exercise daily.

The dog I finally decided on was a Pug. Yes yes I know...they are kinda ugly but you know what? They are lovably ugly. I love my little beast. Hes lazy but he likes to play when you want him to. They dont need space and they are basically built for exactly what you are looking for...a companion dog.

Stupid yes, but not the dog. Jack Russells are incredibly intelligent and extremely headstrong. If you arent strict with them when they are young they wont do a damn thing you tell them to. Part of the breeds appeal is the dogs attitude. A lot of people cant handle it though and they end up getting rid of the dog. Your friend should enroll it into an obedience course if he cant handle the training himself.

Get a FREE one, I can't understand people spending $1000.00 on a whatever dog when they could have gone to the pound and saved a life. Also think of the tang factor of saying you saved this dog from the doggie gas chamber;) mutts are the cuttest anyway.

Actually, it's a one of a kind. The name? The Dog that went to Heaven after being Shoved in a Glass.

My friend's idea, not mine. :p
