I was 18. I go from growing it out (looks horrendous) to shaving pretty regularly. I like how I look with a shaved head, but it is such a pain in the ass with a regular razor. HeadBlade, huh? I may have to try that out.

My hair is very thin up top. My hairline is not receding, it's just getting really sparse. The sides and back are still full.

1) Mid twenties

2) Nothing

3) Everything I've ever read says it comes from you mothers side of the family. My mothers father died when she was young. She says he was balding. I know nothing about her mothers family. My father had a full head of hair when he died at 77.

4) I've questioned friends and nobody says it looks like I'm trying to pull off a comb-over. I'm good with that, because that is not for me. To each his own, but I don't like that look. If or when that day comes, I'll buzz it short for starters. Middle fifties now, so time will tell. My hair loss is a slow process thus far.

This thread makes me feel a little better about myself. Like 28-29 I started getting my dad's and his dad's spot in the back. 33 now and it's slowly getting worse. I haven't done anything about it. Have thought about Rogaine, then just figured let it be. I guess I'm just doomed. I have a cousin that started losing his at like 18-19. He just shaved it. Getting old sucks.

started receding around 25, then thinning pretty well on the top around 29...32 now and thinking about going short, but I have a weird shaped head. :(

I noticed it three years ago at 23.

Ive tried Rogaine, but it didnt work.

I plan to shave my head in the future. Right now I just keep it really short(1 on side, 2 on top).

1. how old were you when it first started?
Mid twenties

2. what have you tried to using minimize the hairloss?
Nothing

3. what is your family history of baldness? brother/dad/uncle/grandfather? mother's dad/brother, etc.
Fathers side of the family

4. how did you eventually deal with it? just shave it all off? comb over?
I trim it really short. Best thing I ever did was go out and buy a trimmer. Now I cut my hair once a month. Best part is the extra money I have from not having to pay to get my hair cut.

Grew it out, tried some thickening product when I first noticed thinning, gave that up quick though

Father and grandfather are full on MPB, all my uncles on my moms side are mpb.

Shaved it all. I shaved my head in high school, grew it out in college, and am back to shaving now that it's making that choice for me :p

I'm 23 and no receding hair or thinning. None in my family either. I'll have to wait and see though with global warming and all lol

1. how old were you when it first started? Mid twenties.

2. what have you tried to using minimize the hairloss? Nothing. I'm just letting nature run its course.

3. what is your family history of baldness? brother/dad/uncle/grandfather? mother's dad/brother, etc. My father has a perpetual horseshoe, my mother's father has a horseshoe, one of my father's brothers has a horseshoe, I have a feeling I know where I stand.

4. how did you eventually deal with it? just shave it all off? comb over? I keep mine really short. I cut it down to about 1/4 inch every few weeks. (pretty much when there is enough to cut). I bought some clippers for about $20 and now I pay $0 for a haircut. (as long as I can find someone to trim up my neckline) You just gotta come to grips with it. Depending on how it's progressing, you can try a few different hairstyles that don't look too awful, but anyone that tries to fool themselves with a comb-over is delusional.
