Alright,

I'm trying to connect to my FTP account hosted by godaddy.com. The error message is "Can not connect to server". godaddy.com said it wasn't them, and that all my passwords and user names were correct and to call Comcast. Comcast said they were doing DNS upgrading yesterday, but not any longer.

We troubleshot and concluded it must be something wrong within my system. I have a very new and secure system and it has never given me trouble like this before. I've been using this FTP stuff on here for a few months now and just the past few days it's been giving me trouble.

It's very important that I get logged into my FTP as I have some serious updating to do. In my XP Firewall, Fireftp and smartftp are on the exceptions list. Plus, I've never had trouble before with Windows Firewall program. Norton is comepletly inactive as well. I just can't seem to find out why I can't log into any of my accounts. I have four FTP accounts (four web address') and can't log into neither.

Is there something I need to check within my system?

Any ideas as to help me troubleshoot this?

Thanks so much !

Try connecting to an anonymous public server like ftp.netscape.com
If it works then your end is good unless you have the servername or port wrong.
If it doesn't work try turning off your firewall to see if that's causing the problem.

You can try FTP access with Internet Explorer (or whatever browser you are using). Internet Explorer knows how to "paste" files into ftp folders.
Try this way, see if it works

were you running a firewall? norton firewall?

it could have been set to block your ftp requests.
