Guys I need help....

Ok I posted earlier that I need to reinstall due to boneheaded moves by me.

Now; however, I cant integrate my RAID drivers or anything in to my Windows Installation. I grabbed the wrong disc from my dorm and I had to burn the ISO that I purposely left on my HDD. Then I let nlite do its business.

When I try to integrate drivers I get this error message:

Access to the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\NlightTempReg\ControlSet001\Services\nvatabus\Parameters\Pn
Interface" is denied.

Can someone please tell me what is wrong with this thing. I really need my desktop computer.

UPDATE: OK, I logged in Administrator (Which I had password protected and had never used before) and I am not getting any of the errors, nor any of the virus's I got earlier. I think my Administrator User Profile is still clean. Seeing as I cant get Windows to install I can delete my User (via Admin Account) and create a new one.

I deleted the user profile, and I also deleted the user name. However, there are 2 files in the Documents and Settings I can't get rid of. They are "setupreg.hiv". Can someone tell me if there is anyway to completely remove all my other user accounts from this computer?

How about just install Windows the normal way, from a standard Windows CD with drivers on a floppy if necessary?

Unfortunately I cant. After using the drivers to load the SATA RAID array, Windows Install discards them and uses its own drivers that do not work. This results in a BSOD upon first boot.

This is the only way (Someone really should shoot the person responsible for using a the DOS based interface, and not incorporating proper drivers in XP)

Go to that key folder (nvatabus) in regedit, right click it, and try allowing everyone full access to it. Write down the current permission settings and revert to them once the process has completed.

When I click on the folder key folder it says:

Cannot Open NVATABUS: Error While Opening Key

I can try using an older driver version and see if that changes it at all.

Ugh these damn virus's are slowly destroy what is left on this computer. I have backdoors, trojans, Dial.Dialattemps, Spyware, Adware....all from this on POS site. If there is some way to get this site back you don't know how fast I would do it!!

I should have known better than to open this file, even after scanning it repeatedly. If I could get a CD-Key for Vista I could install that until the full version comes out, but MS closed that down as well. I cant get either 2000 or XP to install, because this virus is apparently now Write Protecting individual registry files and denying me access.

Thanks for everything you have done, I am starting to lose hope that I can get this computer working.

Well I did manage to get all my files off before it started locking stuff down. I hooked it up via IDE cable so I could get my files off as fast as possible. I scanned them on another computer and they are all clean.

I'm going to try nLite on another computer and hopefully it will manage to integrate the files. If not, I guess I'm stuck using my Tablet PC until late January when Vista comes out.

That setupreg.hiv sounds like some part of Windows PE software (BartPE/nLite). You can remove all other accounts by going into administrative tools, computer management, users and groups.

Alright, well I removed everything else via the Computer Management Console. This should last me until then, provided there aren't any remnants of the virus around here. I'll just get Vista first thing when it comes out

I cant install any devices because half of the system files I need for windows installer and standard startup procedures are gone. Not only that it seems the nLite is the problem when integrating those drivers. God only knows why it is happening now.

1) What antivirus software are you using? Uninstall it, put on a 30-day trial version of Kaspersky Antivirus Personal 6, enable the Riskware detections, update it, reboot into Safe Mode, and run a full scan.

2) how about abandoning the whole SATA RAID thing and going with "normal" independent disks for now. You don't want to be installing anything that your infected Windows touched anyway, including an nLite image.

3) I'd be interested to know what site the Trojan Horse program came from, and which file it was. If nothing else, I can post a SiteAdvisor comment about them as payback. PM me the info if you want

I'm running Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition 10.1 right now with full automatic updates. Ill put on the Kaspersky though and see how it works out.

I think I'm going to abandon SATA RAID though. RAID has done nothing but make it a hassle for me to install anything. If I could I would sell both HDD's and buy one nice big one . Ill have to look into it, we have 2 other computers in this house that might use it, so I think I may have something here
