Here's the best part. My friend fried his slot A mobo and wanted to upgrade to DDR. So I offered to take the memory off his hands, for the rock bottom price of $40, for a single 256meg stick. Thats Crucial RAM too, the best you can get. :D

I didn't really notice a difference between 128MB & 256MB, so I doubt I'll go to 512MB.

Yes, well, I run windows 2000. 128 meg is barely enough to skimp by. 256 was nice, but 512 is even better :D

And I can tell the difference between 256 and 512 :D

<< good, now I have a new CD-Key to use when I install W2K >>

I don't think you can use that number to install Windows 2000.

And I have 384 megs... oooh! Who cares. 512 megs of ram costs what, $150 these days?

BTW, that is the ugliest desktop I have ever seen.

Look at pricewatch...whoopdeedoo. A 512MB stick of PC133 is $46. A 256MB stick of PC133 is $19. I mean, crucial's prices don't compare...but you got it from a friend, so of course he isn't gonna charge you much!

Either way, half a gig of RAM is nothing to write home about any more now that it's so affordable.

The pricewatch prices you listed are for generic crap. This was Crucial RAM, the best, bought directly from Crucial.

If you had a gig that might be impressive (albeit unnecessary for any normal user or gamer) but 512MB is starting to be the standard for gamers as right now it's 256 but RAM is getting so dirt cheap that it's really hard to believe anyone wouldn't have at least 256MB in a WIN2K system..

Oh yeah can't wait till my DDR upgrade.. 512MB DDR CL2..

Edit: Antisocial-Virge 1.5GB RAM *DROOL* now I'm impressed :)

Not impressed. I can do that in MS Paint too. :p

And you are running win98, you can't even use more than 128 megs.
