Guys can we talk about this escalation?

I remember the hope that 2021 was going to be better than 2020 and that got quashed pretty fast. But 2022 is clearly going to one up 2021 with its cars on fire in the middle of the ocean, near brush with health care collapse, supply chains and economies that constantly prove over and over again that yes every day it can get a little worse, and an unhinged leader with thousands of nuclear warheads poorly executing a war that will, one way or the other, bring down at least one major country. This is now a trend. I think 2023 is lining up some asteroids to hit us one after the other. 2024, trying to decide how to one up that, will just nova the sun so that there won't even be a record of us

Gives motivation to support a method of pulling out of China's glue traps, much like how the oil embargo gradually set in motion the pursuit of "energy independence.

Might too late though and the Chinese spider is just watching its prey struggle.

We're lucky that despite Putin's intellect, he too is fallible and lives as a hermit, relatively speaking. Other malevolent entities will not be a blind as he is.

My theory is that this whole decade is doomed. Only going to get worse from here.

If you really want to go down the rabbit hole lookup agenda 2030 and great reset. That's the elephant in the room that everyone should be concerned about these days. It's been happening for the last few decades already but it's ramping up. We already live in a surveillance state and it's not getting any better.

My theory is to focus more on the good stuff like personal relationships and living in one of the most amazing parts of the world like the NYC area while they last. It's been going well

The biggest downside is going online and seeing jackwagons that have 'fuck the other side' paranoid idiots as their mantra acting like they are sane and reasonable, and having other wackadoos defend that stance.

Well, at least you admit that you have gone down a rabbit hole in deciding to believe all that "great reset" conspiracy theory hogwash. 💩

My prediction is the rest of 2022 will be a dumpster fire of multiple issues.

And if Putin isn't totally insane and doesn't nuke the world into oblivion, my guess will be in 2023 we will be visited by intelligent aliens / travelers from another universe looking for a new planet to live on to prevent the end of their civilization. Of course, since they seem friendly, we will let them.

And then we'll find out they gave everyone on Earth - space herpes. 😛

I don't know about space herpes but if gullible people like Red Squirrel keep giving the GOP power we'll be killing each other over blocks of Nestlé ice before the decade is done.

Look at the bright side. Today is the best day of the rest of your life.

I played BF Bad company 2 and BF2142 with this clan and the funniest guy in this clan his gamertag was SpaceHerpes with some numbers after it. Maybe he knew.

I lost both of my parents <18months apart from one another a couple of years back. That changed my perspective on everything.

It's been a rough couple of years, but wife and I are still employed/receiving recognition for our work, our kid is growing and healthy, and we still get to have fun.

On a global scale, while there has been a lot of ugliness/selfishness, I have seen a TON of empathy and community come from the COVID situation. On the Ukraine/Russia front, look how most of the free world has been united in its stance on the situation. Hell, even both sides of the US (for the most part) are aligned. It's a tragic situation, but there is SOME good coming out of it, which will hopefully result in Russia continuing to be held accountable for being cockbites.

I'm still waiting for Murder Hornets to make a comeback. We haven't heard about those, lately.

It's winter .... be patient! 😉

Same here losing parents although it was a bit longer ago it still feels like yesterday.

As for the situation in Ukraine right now I hate to be a downer but I'm extremely worried.... the situation is out of control and war is like a wild-fire.

I'm pretty sure we're going to see escalation. 🙁

2022 is looking like a great year on the micro level. Falling in love, two interesting work prospects, having a partner to enjoy all the amazing things NYC has to offer from the art and museums to live music in tiny to big venues to the most diverse food scene on the planet plus camping, canoeing, bike riding and hiking in the area. Going to Greece this summer. All these things are planned.

But on the macro level, Covid becoming endemic is great, but otherwise knowing that people like Trump and Putin exist, and that tens of millions support them in their respective nations, is just super saddening and depressing. Ultimately this country is likely doomed starting in 2024, but I'm going to enjoy the little things until then.

Also this little war does have potential to escalate. Putin is a maniac with hardline followers, and you can never predict what they will do backed into a corner. Hopefully someone sane on his side takes him out before that happens if he goes that route.

This year is looking up... I have some vacations to warm tropical locations planned soon.

I'm still trying to figure out the replacement for AMC stock and Dogecoin for making a ton of money and then losing it all, though.

But, seriously, can we please not talk about politics here? We have a whole separate forum for that.

I'm trying to enjoy this time as much as possible. 2030 may never come at this rate.

That's a good point that was suppose to be season 2 material and it never happened. Maybe they had technical difficulties so they pushed it to season 4 or maybe near end of season 3. Russian Murder Hornets!

Again.... Winter! 😉

Don't worry they'll be happily decimating the few remaining healthy bee-hives in the Pacific NW in no time flat!

Fortunately for you I doubt they can survive the frozen tundra!

Also beyond the risk to bee-keepers THIS particular "problem" is seriously exaggerated! If you know how to handle not being stung around yellowjackets/other wasps or native hornets you'll be okay around these guys.

"Asian giant hornets are commonly referred to as ‘murder hornets’ in the media. Their name has led the public to believe they present a terrible danger or threat to humans. Contrary to popular belief, they got their nickname from their predatory habits towards insects, including honeybees! They will only attack humans if their colonies and nests are being threatened."

Not to be forgotten for a second is the Global Warming Crisis. Even if Russia's obsession with reassembling the USSR mercilessly and at all costs and sowing division and doubt in and ultimately the collapse of America fails, if we don't get a leg up on the GWC, we will face ever greater catastrophes for which we'll have nothing like satisfactory answers.
