This guy won the auction fare and square, and after the auction ended they contacted him and refused to sell the car to him. :frown:

Anyone near Scottsdale AZ? Maybe someone could check and see if the dealer really did "sell" it, or if they are using it as an excuse not to sell it because the auction went below what it was worth.

<FONT size=2>"Sorry for the delay in posting - I was working late.

It's true.

MARK MITSUBISHI offered me the same ebay EVO at the final auction price.

Many of you knew of MARK MITSUBISHI's offer before I did since I was at work.

I was informed that the car was not titled and the full factory warranty would be in effect.

The finance manager did not know the exact mileage, but he informed me that the car remained at MARK MITSUBISHI after the auction.

The dealer is researching tax issues for a out of state sale.

This thread is amazing. Thanks to all.

Either way, that sucks for the dude who was going to buy it.

It had interior and exterior modifications. I saw this on the Vortex, that dealership is a piece of crap if that's how they do business.
They can't figure out eBay?!? They ran this as a no reserve auction - what part of that did they not understand?

Oh....

well, is the winning bidder seeking legal action?
Either way, I don't know much about ebay rules, but what the dealership did is unethical. However this doesn't mean it is illegal (those small ass fine prints save huge amount of $$$ for dealerships every year :|) I hope that dude gets the same car for that price he bid...

Highly unethical, and quite possibly illegal. The seller and the buyer have a contractual agreement when the bid ends. If the buyer bid $10K over MSRP and didn't pay up, I wonder if the dealer would be so forgiving to just "forget about it"...?

But hey ... who ever said car dealers were ethical?

Sh!tty way to run a company. They have legal obligations on ebay. I BET ebay don't follow it througn now that they are BIG enough to not be bothered by it............... If they had a print in the auction saying that if they found a better buyer they could pull the auction anytime that is fair enough imo. But they did not. Koing

He should bid $100,000 on the next evo and then tell him he found another seller willing to accept $90,000 and retract his bid.:D

I'd be fsckin' pissed.

It shouldn't be anymore OK for a seller to back out than a buyer. :|

Awww, c'mon! Adul, DeathByAnts, and myself will all go with ya!

Edit: And DAMN this thread for getting that satanic commercial stuck in my head again!
Edit x2: I'm no lawyer, but wouldnt that email that was sent to that guy be considered bait and switch? (Which would in turn be illegal?)

Those dumbasses should've had a reserve price if they were going to pull a stunt like that.
