Yeah, he's crushed about the mess his bike is now. He was just pushing too hard and made a mistake. The guy is a good rider.

I'm going to argue that point. The guy locked up his front wheel in a hard turn, on a public street. That was two different kinds of stupid. The fellow isn't a good rider.

I'm glad he wasn't injured, and I hope he's a little smarter now.

I'm kind of with you on this. Because looking at the pic, it is his right hip so if the front washed out then he was leaned over in a right hand turn and must have slid across into oncoming traffic before hitting the guardrail.

Could easily have been a lot worse.

What's with all the pics having huge watermarks across them? Not very subtle lol.

When I used to ride, I always geared up. People are nuts. I only rode for about 2 years and that was enough to sell my bike. People cut you off, almost rear end you, etc etc. My friend was plowed by some tool in a riced out eclipse. He had a week in the hospital and his back was never the same. Took the insurance company 2 years to settle... I had another friend hit a guardrail and another still flip over backwards doing a wheelie at 60mph (they weren't too bright though..) I never did any of that stuff, but it was still too crazy with just people being dumb.

They are a hell of a lot of fun on a clear twisty road, but since you have to drive with other cars on the road... eh.

That guy is up at Palomar every weekend snapping photos of the cars and bikes running up and down Palomar. He is a professional photographer so he posts up the shots and hands out cards to guys making runs. You can check his work out at www.rickclemson.com. I bought a picture he snapped of me on Palomar on my old bike a couple years ago. He does nice work.

Wow. That looks like Glendora Mountain Road's twin.

I did GMR with a group of 250 riders just before leaving San Diego. The ride went well but I dropped mine in the dirt when we pulled over to do a head count. My feet simply couldn't find purchase in the dust and pebbles on smooth packed ground until it was so far leaned over to the right that stopping it only made the tires slide out to the left. We saw other people nearly drop their bikes at other dusty turn-outs (same deal: feet sliding out from under them), so I should have been more careful. Nothing but a broken peg mount but the advantage of riding with a group of other 250 riders is that a few of them had spares after upgrading to adjustable rearsets.

Three years and 30,000 miles without incident before that.

At least it's a 250!
