hehe, I've the same car. 1992 Bonneville SE with 102K miles.
I get about 18mpg city, but we calculated about 32mpg when we drove from Michigan to California. This was AFTER a complete transmission overhaul, it was getting horrid gas mileage when my converter was slipping 250 times per minute. 😕
1986 Volkswagen GTI 8v 1.8L- supposed to get 31mpg highway, but seems more like 16mpg (A/C on) when I have my foot in it (90mph). At 200 miles, there's a fifth of a tank left. 128k miles on the ODO, and I only run 93 octane Chevron Premium with Techron (really makes a noticable difference after 2 months straight of the stuff- engine runs smoother).
I got up to 29, but often less, delivering food all night in my 92 Civic LX. I've gotten 42 MPG on the interstate. (SOHC, 16 valve, 1.5 L, 102 HP, 5 speed)
My 94 Saturn is extremely disappointing, giving me 18-19 while delivering. I've got to figure out what's wrong with it, because 18 MPG is pissing me off. (DOHC, 16 valve, 1.9 L, 124 HP (?), 5 speed)
I have a 99 Mercury Cougar V6, with an automatic tranny. I can get up to 33 MPG on the highway, if I don't run into traffic or use my A/C. In the city, my poor car seems to spend more time waiting at stop lights than moving, so I only average 22 MPG. This car comes standard with a trip computer, so I don't have to do any calculations to come up with these numbers.
I had a slushbox TDI as my loaner when I was in for my last maintenance and the engine seemed to work a lot harder... that could explain the difference. (and the fact that I drive 95% highway)
LOL, I was getting worried about the mileage I would get with one full tank because I saw the VW TDI(sp?) that gives about 42mpg on the city. I thought all cars would give out that much or more?!?! :Q
Anyway, I'm at 235 miles now and there's about 3 gallons left in the tank. Looks like I'm doing alright. I'm driving a Mitsubishi Galant ES. 2.4 litre engine. 🙂
Another question, what are the differences between the three grades of petrol? Any pointers to keep the engine in tip top condition?
2.4L inline 4 155 hp engine. nissan altima 2001 auto tranny. nissan claims 21/29 . i'd say its more like 18 / 25 but well i drive around in LA, so yeah stop and go . plus i drive kinda fast.
My accord v6 gets around 28mpg on the highway, My father's extremely heavy and supercharged Buick Park Avenue gets like 36 mpg on the highway, really makes me mad lol. Of course his car shifts into neutral while going down hill, and mine uses the engine to slow the car down.
1994 Nissan Altima (2.4L inline four, specs state 155bhp)
I generally get a tad over 30 on the highway (unless I'm doing 80) and a tad under 30 intown. I've never really figured exactly what it gets, but I'll get anywhere from 300-375 miles out of a fill-up (usually a hair over 12 gallons) depending on what kind of driving I'm doing.
