And they didn't move either. They didn't just let him pass, or another car pass. This was not an official parade and they should have respected other users of the road. Instead their entitlement complex made them think all other users of the road must suck it.

So he starts hooting and inching forward - hooting probably to warn people I might add - and they get aggressive. WTF? Being hooted at does not give you the right to start assaulting someone. Just get out the flipping way and let him pass.

hoot?

He's not an owl... where are you from?

If there's a little old lady standing there can I mow her over?

Reductio ad absurdum. Logical fallacy. It was a mob of people refusing to move, not a little old lady. Arguing this way does not strengthen any of your points and instead makes us think you are unreasonable and more dismissive of other points you may bring up.

How about a group of 200 disoriented old ladies? Is it now ok to honk and then run them down?

The problem is, as is typical of AT discussions, many want to apply their reasoning to a certain group of people. In reality we need to treat everyone equally.

If they're acting violently, you get the hell out of there as fast as you can. Being old or women doesn't make them harmless.

Ok, you're on a two lane 45mph road behind a group of 10 ciclists who are taking up the entire lane, while furiously pedaling along at 10mph.

You honk at them, one flips you off, is it now ok to run them over?

I can't believe the justifications on this forum for simply mowing people over. Both in this case and the range rover case, innocent uninvolved people were harmed.

Damn, you were on the wrong side of the Range Rover thread too. Do you hate victims of aggression or what?

I think it's inexcusable to put yourself in a dangerous situation, then mow over innocent people when you end up scared.

Due to the way self-defense works in this country it's legal to act like this, but it doesn't make it right.

Flipping someone off

Physically attacking someone

That's how big the difference is.

"put yourself in a dangerous situation"

So you acknowledge the pedestrians were acting dangerously and created a violent situation. Glad we agree.

If one of them flips you off, not ok to run them over.

If all of them flip you off, still not ok to run them over.

If they started to slow down, entrap your vehicle, stated banging on your car, windows, ok to run them over. See how easy that was?

People tend to think that they will get away with doing something illegal, stupid, or inconsiderate as a group while they wouldn't necessarily attempt the same behaviour by themselves because they'd be afraid of the consequences. Just because you're in a large group doesn't mean you have the right to STAND in the middle of an intersection.

The purpose of a horn is to grab attention. The driver was not being aggressive by honking and inching forward. The pedestrians however were aggressive towards the driver after he honked. I didn't see anything wrong with what he did once some idiot yelled "flip that car".

You have that special thing called a "voice of reason" that seems to be very rare around these parts.

Great, so if one hits my mirror as they lane split through traffic I now have free reign to mow them down?

The fact is, the driver put himself in this supposed dangerous situation.

Hits your mirror on accident? Nah probably not.

Gangs up on your car, pounding on hood/glass/windows, sitting on your car, breakin' shit what have you, sure.

Your reading comprehension is very bad.

I can do nothing but LOL at people who don't understand that streets are for cars. Not retarded hipster zombie enthusiasts.

You planned/attended a [stupid] event that marched you down busy streets without proper road closures and/or a mobile police escort/traffic control of any kind.

You got hit by a car.

WHAT DID WE LEARN?

We can only hope this happens to you one day and then see you post all butthurt.
