I was in the express lane and had the following items:

  • Whole Milk
  • Dozen Eggs
  • Oscar Meyer Beef Bologna
  • 6-pack of Yuengling :beer:

I turned around and saw this guy with the same type and number of items, but upon closer inspection, I found that he had:

  • Soy Milk
  • Vegetarian Eggs (WTF?!?!?!)
  • Package of Tofu
  • 6-pack of Dannon water

It just struck me funny.

What was realy funny was my bill was half of his! :Q
 
i'm the guy in between

I drink whole milk AND soy milk
I like regular eggs (never heard of veggie eggs but I'll probably not mind eating them)
I like meat and tofu equally
I actually like yuengling and yuengling light, as well as water.

No. I make it a point to rebag all of my groceries because I've YET to have a clerk bag them correctly. This chick had the bologna on top of the eggs! Eggs get bagged ALONE. With bread at the most.

As for what he was buying... Nothing wrong with Tofu. Use it in some stir-fry. It's great. Soaks up the hot oil or sesame oil flavor or whatever you use. Mmmm.....
 
I love soy milk, I love tofu, I drink bottled water (for certain sports occassions), and you probably mean "organic" type eggs where the chickens are fed non-hormone injected food and aren't grown on huge commercial chicken farms. Although, I wouldn't think Publix would carry that.

But yeh, if I saw a dude with that stuff, I'd kinda think he's a bit too much of a hippy.

What's the matter? Afraid the bolonga is gonna break your eggs? :roll: It's all going in the fridge anyway. I'd bag it the same way. Lemme guess. One bag for the beer. One for the milk. And one for the eggs. What a waste of a bag to put the bolonga by itself.
 
Hmm, the most soy I've ever eaten was a handful of soy nuts. I'd like to keep it at that too. No tofu for me either.

Yes and no. I put the bologna in with the milk. But if I had a loaf of bread, I'd put it with the eggs. If I had a pack of hot dogs or some cheese, I'd put it in with the bologna. The point isn't where it's going, it's making it to the destination. Those 1lb packs of bologna CAN crack the eggs. I've had lighter items do the same.

No. The package clearly said "VEGETARIAN EGGS." Publix also carries Organic Eggs and I don't understand why you think Publix wouldn't carry that. Do you think Publix is like Walgreens or something??? 😕
 
Curiosity was killing me... So I googled...

Organic Eggs are eggs from organically fed hens. Other than this, the hens may ro may not be cage kept, but Vegetarian Eggs are:

* Produced by cage-free hens (this isn't uncommon)
* All Vegetarian Diet (this isn't uncommon, organic or not)
* No Drugs, Hormones, Antibiotics, or Animal By-Products
* 100% recycled/recyclable packaging (I can just SMELL the Birkenstocks)
* No Factory Farms
* Brown shell eggs

So it seems that Vegetarian Eggs is more of a "brand name" thing than an actual designation of egg. The way I see it, they're extreme organic eggs. Vegans still won't eat them. 😉
