i m confused over choosing intel's D805(+zalman cooler) or amd 3700+. which wud give best performance in latest game if im using a card like single 7900GT

In games, a 3700+ would give you better performance. if you want more real-time performance as well as multitasking performance, the D805 would be better once you overclock it to high speeds.

guoziming pretty much summed it up. But he did forget to mention that if you get a Venice core Athlon 64 you will more than likely get incredible OCing performance. I don't know about the Intel though. Incase if you're using it for both, use this chart. http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu.html It'll help you decide what to choose.

Why would you run a 3700 at Stock?

Why would you buy ANY chip this month knowing next month they all get pricecuts? In 5 weeks an X2 3800 will cost about $160 (I've heard both $155 and $170). Heck, you'll get a dual-core Athlon 64 chip that overclocks to beat the crap-arse netburst garbage for about $40 more, and you wont' have to worry about clock throttling. And it will be better in games.

Put the brakes on your build.
