[Guru3D] GTX590 to have removeable shroud

Anybody else of the opinion that neither of these cards (GTX 590) and (6990) ever should have been made ?

The heat/noise/power consumption is absurd.

I would never buy either of them because they consume way too much power and are/will be absurdly expensive for a video card. The noise issue is just the icing on the cake for me - I hate noisy video cards.

With that said, I absolutely disagree with you that these cards should never be made. They are engineering feats, and are very cool technology to look at and read about.

Also, because they run so hot, they present engineering design challenges that often benefit mainstream cards in the next generation. Ie - the first cards to require things like heatpipes, copper cores, vapor chambers, blowers, etc. are often dual chip cards.
