M-16. AROTC is awesome. But I heard from a friend who visited China that they let you loose with a variety of weapons in a range after a small fee.

I could have shot the shotgun but at the time I was too much of a chicken to fire it because of the kick.

and I am sure a few others that I am forgetting about right now.

Also, not a rifle, but I have a large pnuematic air cannon, piston action, with a 6inch diameter air chamber and two inch barrel, that has one heck of a slow kick, but will leave your back sore if shoulder fired.
 
I once fired a .22 rifle.

I had to...it wasn't living up to it's job expectations and was coming in late everyday.

It even had a temper. You might say it was a bit of a "loose canon"!!!!
