Gunman shoots and kills guard at Holocaust Museum in Washington DC

Not really. The bad thing about a low power small round like that is that if you hit someone in the chest with it and can penetrate the rib cage the bullet will bounce around inside instead of creating an exit wound like a higher powered round.

I bet the guy found out he was terminally ill and decided he was going to go out in some sort of hate filled blaze of glory.

First the George Tiller murder, now a white supremacist attacking a Holocaust Museum.

Praise Jesus! 😉

The bouncing around thing is bunk. Doesn't happen.

What is interesting is on some other boards, they knew who the shooter was before the news was even really able to cover it. The guy apparently was pretty well known (infamous), and everyone's first guesses (based on location) was that it was him.

Why is it that the real face of lethal "domestic terrorism" in this century turns out time and time again to be a right winger?

Nice troll. This guy was no right winger. Let's just call him what he is (and hopefully past tense was) a lunatic.

Boy, i'd like to see your definition of what a right winger is, because this guy sounds like a rightwinger... yet another domestic conservative terrorist, sigh.

He also wrote an internet posting complaining that Obama's birth certificate and other documents have not been made public.

On December 7, 1981, a man named James W. Von Brunn pulled out a sawed-off shotgun at the Federal Reserve Board headquarters, claiming to have planted a bomb and threatening to take members of the Board hostage. That was 40 years to the day after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, though it's unclear whether that's a coincidence or not.

"The gunman was identified by several news agencies as James W. von Brunn, a man in his late 80s. According to a Web site maintained by Mr. von Brunn, he embraces a far-reaching conspiracy theory involving Jews, blacks and other minority groups"

I don't think this guy fits within the (I think artificial) conventional left-right framework. I don't know his personal beliefs, but I think neo-Nazis are typically national socialists, who are very conservative socially, while economically "liberal": They support state intervention in the economy and also in regulating social behavior.

Edit: The World's Smallest Political Quiz is useful in illustrating the distinction. Neo-Nazis would fall in the "statist" category.

I wasn't aware American Nazi's (would say Neo but the fucker was in his 80's) were "right-wing". I don't know any mainstream group that would want to associate with this guy or people like him. I don't even think Limbaugh would want to associate with this guy.

You're still trolling though.

To say they are economically 'liberal' would be simplifying it too much... there may be some government intervention policies that benefit the people... but for whites only.

I think a comparison could be made by a more mainstream conservative (a paleo-con/rightwing populist) like Pat Buchanan... if you took an extreme version of him, you would get a far-right neo-nazi

Dude, read before you post you stupid piece of shit. Perknose said right-wing, not far right. That makes a difference. (bolded key words for you)

Quoted from your article
The terms far right and far left are often used to imply that someone is an extremist.

Using right-wing and left-wing for general political associations is acceptable, and people in mainstream politics accept them. There is no embarassment being a righ-winger and left-winger. It's when either side tries to put these extreme pieces of shit into one group or the other is when it crosses the line. These people are extremists and are NOT members of the political mainstream. To say people on the right-wing accept this kind of behavior is wrong and stupid.

Go shove your head back up your ass but please do it in P&N.

Guess which wing the far right sits on... yeah, the right wing. You're an idiot playing a semantic game you can't possibly win.

Variations

The spectrum of right-wing politics ranges from centre-right to far right. By the late 19th century, the French political spectrum classified the center-right as Constitutional Monarchists, Orleanists, and Bonapartists, and the far right as Ultra-Royalists and Legitimists. The centre-right Gaullists in post-World War II France advocated considerable social spending on education and infrastructure development, as well as extensive economic regulation but a limited amount of the wealth redistribution measures more characteristic of social democracy.

Today, the definition of the term centre-right is necessarily broad and approximate because political terms have varying meanings in different countries. Parties of the centre-right generally support liberal democracy, capitalism, the market economy, private property rights, the existence of the welfare state in some form and opposition to socialism and communism. Such a definition generally includes political parties that base their ideology and policies upon conservatism and economic liberalism.

The terms far right and radical right have been used by different people in conflicting ways.[15] The term far right is most often used to describe nationalist, religious extremist and reactionary groups as well as fascism and Nazism.[16][17][18][19] The BBC has called politician Pim Fortuyn's politics (Fortuynism) far right because of his policies on immigration and Muslims.[20] The term far right has been used by some, such as National Public Radio, to describe the rule of Augusto Pinochet in Chile.[21][22] Left-wing publication New Left Review called Ronald Reagan's policies "radical right".[23] The US Department of Homeland Security defines right-wing extremism as hate groups who target racial, ethnic or religious minorities and may be dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.[24]

Guess you should take out the far-right from the right-wing-politics wiki entry, since they're not rightwing

I am shocked, just shocked, that security wasn't a deterrent for this lunatic.

Amazing that more people weren't injured, though.

Security did their job. Good for them. Probably prevented more injuries/killing.
