Gun values?

Does anyone know the rough value of either of these two rifles?

Neither of the following has been fired in ~8 years though they have been stored inside.

Remington 522 (.22LR)
SKS (wooden parts in poor condition, though usable-I know nothing about the SKS, so I can't say more)

I don't know of any price guides for this kind of thing. Is there equivalent to the Kelly Blue Book?

100 tops for the Remington.

Any idea on the manufacturer of the SKS? Any markings?

There were what looked like a few Chineese characters stamped on the barrel. I can't look at it again until the kids leave.

There should also be stampings on the left side of the receiver.

A triangle with a number inside denotes Chinese manufacture, eariler Chinese imports are marked by 3 chinese characters in the same area.

A star with a number inside could mean Korean or Vietnamese property.

What color is the wood, dark or blonde?

Norinco made SKSs are quite common. You can get them brand new in Canada still for $130 Canadian... around $100 US. Unfortunately, you can not import them into the US because of the Chinese weapon ban. Nice cheap little shooter though. Usually have a chromed bore and can shoot corrosive ammo for days with no cleaning. You're not going to win any accuracy contests with it though.

..some of the SKS rifles were banned in Calif. I recall seeing pyles of them at the CowPalace gun shows all wraped in greese paper..from China and Russia and they were going for 95.00.

in minnesota if you have a license to carry a handgun, then you can. but I'm not sure about the weapon concealing part of the law, I just know that whatever building you go into, it's got plenty of signs - "dangerous weapons are banned in these premises"

-stupid law.
