i've found 1 professional review and several reviews on forums by regular users and everyone says it fits great. i guess its because of the special grip it has that mold to your hand.
i've looked at a bunch of reviews for the 24/7 pro and the CZ P-01 and it doesn't seem like I can go wrong with either one. The only problem I may have is finding a store that has them in stock so i can check them out before buying.

Another vote for the 1911.
If you want a fancy gee look at my I'm a trendy Mac lover, buy a Glock or an XD, M&P or HK. If you want a reliable gun that will never let you down, get a 1911.
a 1911 was by my grandfathers side through WW2 and Korea and it served him well.

Another vote for S&W M&P. Bud's Gun Shop has great prices on the 9mm and .40 - you just need to arrange for an FFL holder in your area to receive it for you (for a small transfer fee). Bud's has instructions on interstate ordering on their site.
If you want a 1911, check out the new one from Taurus (also on that Bud's page) A great value for a more-than your-basic-GI-model pistol.
FWIW, my son has a .40 Taurus 24/7 Pro for his daily carry piece, and loves it. I like the M&P grip & trigger better, YMMV.
.40's advantage over the 9mm is the availability of heavier rounds than are available for the 9, without the extra price of the .45 ACP. 165 or 180 grains penetrates better than the 125 to 147 grain 9mm premium ammo. 9mm is, however, the least expensive ammo out there in any halfway serious caliber.

And I never understood how people can be so ignorant as to believe the difference between 9mm and .40 is five hundreths of an inch. Bullet diameter has little to do with anything. A bullets stopping power has everything to do with its mass and velocity. The .40 cartridge is significantly larger than a 9mm and it's tossing a heavier bullet FASTER. An ideal .40S&W can deliver anywhere between 25-50% more energy to the target compared to a 9mm in non + chambering.

I wasn't arguing energy transfer; I was placing an emphasis on shot placement. People get way too caught up in the caliber size debate, and going from a 9mm to a .40, doesn't mean your attacker will stop dead in his tracks when shot. People react differently to being shot, from being unaware that they have been shot, to simply crumpling to the ground almost instantly, the difference between the 9mm and .40 ALONE does not determine this. The best round out of the two is the one you are the most competent with. "Stopping power," is how quickly you can accurately hit center mass, increasing the likelihood of a hit to a vital organ. Thanks for the rant though, no really.

On the caliber argument, (GagHalfrunt and Ephemeral)you're both right. .40 S&W typically has better penetration and is more likely to get to a vital organ or CNS if you can make the shot with that round. On the other hand, there is no handgun "magic bullet" which will consistently produce the ephemeral "one shot stop". Even .50 AE has to hit just the right spot, or the bad guy keeps coming.
I know there's no consistent, "one shot," stop 😉. Competency should also include the ability to quickly and accurately produce follow-up shots if needed. And yes, there is greater penetration in .40 over standard 9mm, which is why I mentioned using +P or +P+ originally. When I carry my SP-01 I use Gold Dot 124gr +P.
If you have an Academy B&M local to you, go check there. I was just ogling the 24/7 there this weekend - both in 9mm and .40 - and the price seemed decent (under $400 IIRC). They don't have it on their website, so can't tell you exactly what it was. They do have the CZ P-01 on their website though. 😉

We have a couple of dealers here in VA that only sell at gun shows and are dirt cheap in price so i guess it depends on were you are located.

Gun show deals seem to be few and far between. You need to know what you want and what market prices are, because it seems most of the deals arent on common "obvious" items.
If your interested in older stuff I *highly* recommend an C&R FFL license. Its 30 bucks for 3 years. It pays for itself almost on the first rifle you buy as C&R stuff can be shipped directly to your door saving you an FFL transfer fee. Also, you can use the license to buy things at a discount at Brownells and I think midwayusa. Also, a few vendors will only sell to FFL holders and have very good prices.
Well worth it to get one.
