I wonder... Do you think you could make pudding bullets? It would be a death most tasty.

I kinda think another reason for the increase in firearms sales during Obama's terms in office is the satisfaction some folks get from symbolically spitting in Obama's face every time they buy firearms and accessories.

I've never before experienced the kind of hatred some folks have for a sitting president. Dislike....yeah, anger....sure, contempt....happens all the time. But this particular kind of hatred for Obama shows signs of desperation and deep seated raw emotional rage. It's pretty visceral and devoid of logic.

Interesting to say the least. Especially so when you look around and see how the economy is steadily improving, you don't hear a single peep out of the very rich......well, besides the ones that hate unions and the black guy sitting in the White House that's on the union's side. The health insurers aren't complaining, nor is Wall Street for that matter. We're finally getting out of the mess Bush/Cheney started.

It seems to me the only folks that should be complaining are the ones from the middle class and the poor, who are falling further and further behind while the very rich and wealthy are getting ever richer and wealthier.

Interesting, if not perplexing.

Everyone is titled to their opinion... yours is totally off base... but you are entitled to speak your thoughts. People thought there would be a serious push to ban certain weapons.... so everyone rushed out to buy an AR-15 before they vanished. It had zero to do with Obama's dad being black... sorry to burst your bubble.

Yes, absolutely, I agree with you that what you mentioned is one of the major causes for the occasional mad rush at the gun shops. It's one reason why I phrased my initial comment as "I kinda think another reason...."

My apologies for not making it clear that taking a swipe at Obama was not THE major cause for increased arms sales while he is in office but rather a contributory one.

I guess a lot of people have finished building their ammo forts. The closet only has so much space after all...

Ammo does have a shelf life, and it sure ain't as cheap as it used to be. I can't imagine firing off a shitload of it just to beat the time when the rounds get unreliable, especially for those of you that like to bump fire a lot or are able to go full auto.

Rotating a large cache sounds like it can get awfully pricey, especially for the folks that like to use the really loud kick-ass variety. You know those folks....the ones that makes everybody pause and look at who was using demolition type charges while at the ranges. There were quite a few folks that I recall bringing those hand cannons to the range and firing off with glee, but when I checked their targets with my spotting scope not a single hit on their targets could be found.

I really enjoy listening to the lefts shock over the vitriol spewed at Obama. It is like they forgot about the Bush years.

Except that they can blame it all on racism, because you can't possibly disagree with the man's policies.

Well, that and Bush really was Hitler reincarnated. Obama is just a plain ol' American just trying to help his fellow man.

I wanted to start another gun thread but this somewhat fits here.

Supreme Court turns down two 2nd Amendment appeals from NRA

Poor NRA I feel bad for them

The court's decision not to hear the cases represented a loss for gun rights advocates, including the National Rifle Association, which was behind two of the challenges.

I still can't find .22 for sale anywhere :colbert:

This. I *hope* sales decline significantly; especially ammo sales. .22 ammo used to be $15ish for a box of 500. Now, if they even manage to make it to the shelves, they're gone in 5 minutes at 5 times that price. I've been waiting for a couple of years for the idiots to run out of money, or run out of space from all the hording.

I always thought that Obama's half hearted threats to pass more gun legislation was one of his more creative ways to simulate the US economy.

They probably helped to increase gun sales faster than Cash For Clunkers ever did for automobiles, without the big government payout. Evil genius if you ask me!

Once a while, I can get .22LR from Academy for $2.5 per 50 rounds but hit or miss. YMMV.

Maybe a 50 to 100 year shelf life. I have some .30 ammo I recently used that I bought in 1985. And there was that Japanese soldier who spent 30 years in the Philippine jungle storing his ammo is a glass jar. He hunted and killed people those 30 years. Then there are the reports of the military using so much .50 ammo in Iraq that they were dusting off crates manufactured during the Korean and Vietnam wars.... Maybe even older.

Properly manufactured ammo is pretty stable.

I have 7.62x39 from the 60's that all goes bang. I've shot lots of us made commercial ammo that was 30+ years old and probably stored in a damp basement with no issues. Modern ammo takes a looong time or quite bad conditions to go bad.

The main thing that does the most damage to ammo is moisture. If you plan to keep it over a long period of time get some of those silica gel packs.

just don't store your brass in a barn....ammonia and nitrates cause stress-corrosion cracking. your ammo would not be happy :p

I have several hundred rounds of Greek surplus 30-06 from the 60s as well, so long as it stays dry and cool, ammo will last a very long time.

No problems with WW2 8mm, .30-06 and 7.62x54 from early '50s. modern ammo will have a shelf life that will not be a problem in my lifetime.

Well that's all nice and swell but don't you you all boys already have a thread where you discuss size mattering, no?
