gun nutters . . . . scary stuff!

With all this talk about CO shootings the media seems to have a very serious bias against legal gunowners.

--OMG he had 6,000 rounds of ammunition!!!!!
Prices are always going up, you can hedge a bit and buy in bulk.
--OMG he had a "high capacity magazine"
They're more convenient for the range since i can carry fewer mags and reload less often
--OMG he had an "assault rifle!!!!"
A semi-auto AR15 isn't an assault rifle
--OMG he made his own bullets with a press!!!!!
you can get better quality and custom loads not to mention it's typically cheaper

trying to scare the sheeple into more oppresive gun laws so that via legislation the criminals have a larger advantage over law-abiding-citizens

This same crap happens every time there is a shooting.
12 lives lost is terrible and I feel for the victims' families.

But there are gun deaths every day.
It's only after these mass shootings that the public freak out about gun control.
Unless you completely outlawed guns, there would still be many gun deaths each day by people who own guns.

There is something way beyond guns of no guns going on in our society, many here are too young to know what things were like 50 years ago. When I was a kid in my early teens, I and all of my friends had guns and had access to guns, we never shot anybody. What we had was parental guidance, you learned early about gun safety and the proper use of guns. I can remember my Dad, a WW2 vet telling me you do not point a gun(even a toy one) at anyone!! Now children are raised by and babyset by videos, gaming machines, TV's, Etc. that many times portray violent, dark, demonic images.

This thread will end well....

America should have banned guns a long time ago.

I used to believe that as well, but have since changed my viewpoint. I think it should be more of a hassle to keep and maintain one. Annual registration fees, required safes, and possibly some form of randomized checks on responsible/proper ownership.

Or, try to get gun nutters to buy more ammunition and guns is more like it. Seems a little soon?

Last I heard murder is heavily regulated against but that ain't stop no mass murderers yet as far as I can tell.

...along with drugs, prostitution, human cloning, sex with a minor (looking at you teach), littering, speeding, oh and didn't alcohol used to be illegal? :hmm:

Banning guns will only make it so the average level headed person doesn't have a gun. The crazies and baddies will still have them.

Yeah but the problem here is the guy did buy all that shit legally and then quite easily committed a horrible crime with it.

He could have made bombs out of televisions for all it matters. Where there's a will there's a way. Crazy will do crazy, gun or no gun. It could have been 10x worse had he planted explosives all around the theater instead of just his home.

For the record, I do not own a gun and have no desire to, but I'm mentally stable enough to know banning guns is no solution. (that and I want that option when the next Hitler comes along)

Yes he could have, but he didnt. He shot them.
And thats all the gun grabbers need.

Well thats with everything. Thus people folding and buying into it is not what we need.

The Titanic killed 100's of people and I didn't see them banning boats. It's a grand blame game that is eroding every little freedom we have left. Soon you won't be able to wipe your ass w/o a signed release.

exactly, look at all the stuff that is already banned but people still get it with ease.

marijuana is banned but look at all the potheads on this forum alone...

I heard on the news that he got a federal grant for his education. WE paid for this guys education!!! We should ban federal grants now, too.

There are lots of laws broken in a situation like this and people think one more will help.
There has been speculation that had the theater not banned the public from carrying on the premises there might have been a chance that someone could have stopped the carnage. Thoughts?

More gun regulation just limits availability to lawful citizens. Criminals can and will still have access. Just look at no carry zones. Lawful citizens respect the law and are helpless with no way of defending themselves in these areas. Concealed carry permit holders are by and large much less likely to commit crimes than the regular population.

I talked to a police chief friend and asked him what his take was on the shooting. He basically said what I already thought. Nothing can stop these shootings and gun control isn't going to help. We have to live with it. Lots of people = a few bad nuts in every crowd.
