Gun Control - Abstracts of what Feinstein is going to introduce in the Senate

It's extreme and won't go anywhere. It'll get watered down if anything at all passes, but considering the Congress can't even pass a budget or compromise on this "fiscal cliff" this whole thing is a non-starter.

I was laughing the whole time I was reading it, especially the part about registering grandfathered weapons under NFA. Never gonna happen.

I don't own any guns, and I still think an assault weapons ban is ludicrous. I think that it targets guns that "look" more dangerous without actually addressing whether they are more dangerous, and I think it's legislation based off a visceral emotional response to a horrifying tragedy rather than a logical weighing of gun owner's rights vs. the efficacy of gun control legislation. It's "feel good" legislation that doesn't have a significant impact on the problem it purports to be addressing. It's like the liberal issue equivalent of voter ID as a means to combat voter fraud; it doesn't work and it negatively impacts people who are legally exercising their rights.

Yea, that part had me rolling too. I had a REALLY good laugh at this part ...

Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
  • Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment
  • Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes
Feinstein is without a doubt, one of, if not the most clueless, pieces of shit to open their mouth in the gun debate.

If they're truly interested in banning military-grade weapons, why not ban military calibers a la Mexico? I mean it doesn't work there but at least there is some logic behind it.

Honestly, I don't see an AWB coming back. People like Feinstein make insane bills like this, more and more people realize she is just after more ineffectual, feel good/does nothing regulation, just like that last one, and realize we need to look at other solutions. Her and the rest of the loony progressive, anti-gun nuts do more for gun rights than they realize. She is to gun control, what the Bible thumping Teapublican is to the GOP.

LOL, because flat dark earth coloring on guns leads to more mass shootings. Or collapsible gun stocks lead to mass shootings. Or because floating hand rails lead to mass shootings. Or night sights lead to mass shootings. Or bigger magazines lead to mass shootings.

The dumb is strong in this senator.

I think people like her introduce bills like this because it will give the appearance of doing something knowing full well it wont go anywhere. This is not sensible legislation at all. It is the stuff of looney gun grabbers.

Yah, but tax payer money is wasted in her drafting this idiotic bill, presenting it, and having it discussed and then voted down. Time and money better spent elsewhere.

Don't underestimate the stupidity of the electorate when confronted with an emotional plea.

This. They are going for everything they can and will settle in between. The registration requirement is dead on arrival and if they choose to make a stand on that aspect the whole thing gets sunk... and their next election too.

What's a military caliber though? .223 and .308 are extremely popular and useful hunting rounds.

Yep, the dumb is very strong in this senator.

Well said.

I've never owned a gun, but the absurdity of banning/further restricting them is making me want one more than ever.

Gun companies must be LOVING the Obama years. While not necessarily through any of actual actions, the gun demand/sales have been fantastic .. and nothing has actually happened to gun laws.

Brownells, one of the largest wholesalers in the US, sold more magazines in 36 hours a couple of weekends ago than they have in the past 4 years.
