Gun advice...

I'm back on a buying spree again, and have narrowed my choices down to three for this go round.

Choice #1
Bushmaster Carbon 15 Type 21 (.223)

Choice #2
Kel-Tec SU-16C (.223)

Choice #3
Run-of-the-mill Russian Built AK-47 (7.62x39)

I'm really leaning towards #2. It rivals the AK-47 for cost of the gun, and the ammo is cheap. Plus it is a very light weapon, and can be folded down to fit in a hiking pack. Any thoughts and/or opinions on these are welcome, I'm just trying to get a feel for what the ATOT gun crowd likes.

Kel-Tec SU-16C (.223) is cheaper than some handguns. :Q

WTF?!

it doesnt sell that many units, so large manufacturing volume doesnt apply.

Why is it cheaper?

somthing tells me hes using that big gun to replace somthing else...

gimme a break whi the fcuk personally owns a damn ak-47

wackjob

I have an AR and love it, but my old AK was prolly more fun so shoot. The AR is more accurate and has a much better fit/finish to it, but I put a lot more rounds through the AK than the AR. For reference, my AR is a DPMS with a floating heavy barrel, the thing weighs a ton.

Obviously you don't know anything about firearms.

Personally, I would go with #1 or 3. Keltec's are rather cheap, and seem to break - even though I've never had any experience with that particular model.

My Bushmaster is great, I have the XM152S3 I believe? 16" barrel w/ A2 upper and collapsible stock.

I vote Bushmaster. The Kel-Tec is.....well it's just ugly. The AK can handle some abuse and still operate but lacks accuracy at range (300-800 yards). Also I couldn't bring myself to carry an AK after carrying an M16 for 20 years. 😉

I had a Bushmaster A2, although not the Carbon model. Even tough it was the LE model, it was kinda heavy although fun to shoot. My friend got the SU16c because the new folding Kel-Tec is not legal in NY, but he loves his SU16c. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet though. I am not that much of a fan of the carbon models.

I found out I am more of a pistol fan because I don't have to drive an hour to go shooting.

I may own one here in the near future. I hear they are good for controlling the troll population.

I own two fvcktard.😛

Thanks for the thoughts so far.

I'm still biased towards the Kel-Tec just because of its versitility. I've shot my friends RRA AR-15 quite a bit and really enjoy it, but personally I like the looks of the SU-16. (I know looks shouldn't be my deciding factor on this) Is there anyone on here who has shot the Kel-Tec before, or have anything bad to report about it? If you recall from a past thread, I also own 2 Mosin Nagants. I really like the Russian rifles for their dependabilty, and unrefined nature.

So many decisions, so little money 🙂.

For sheer grins, it's hard to pass up the AK. Can buy a few of them for the price of the Bushmaster. Case ammo is dirt cheap too. I have a Hungarian pre-ban (Which doesn't matter any more) AK and it's accuracy is very surprising.

Another to consider is the Ruger Mini-14 (.223) or the Mini-30 (7.62x39). The price for them is between the Busgmaster and the AK.

I'm curious - what do people do with guns like those? Rifles ot hunt with, handguns for self defense ... but those?

They buy them....because they can - it's a selfcentric drive.

Shoot stuff. We spent a good part of Saturday on my friends farm shooting milk jugs full of water, bricks, concreate blocks, old farm equipment, etc. It's a great stress reliever, you should try it.

The temptation to misuse them in my office would be killer 😀
