I don't know. On the specs of the guitar, it says its a double locking tremolo. Don't know what that means.

Floyds are not for the weak hearted or the beginner but they do have their uses if you know what your doing. You can do multi string bends with any trem with just little extra technique.
If you have a Guitar Center around you should be able to get Schecter C-1 + for $550 if you haggle for it.

UPDATE:

We got back from Sam Ash. He ended up getting an LTD Viper 400, which cost $559. It sounds way better than that jackson. He loves it. It has EMG 81 Active humbuckers, which is great.

:)

O RLY? its a matter of opinion, and my opinion is that floyd roses are worthless. so therefore i'm not sure that it is a dumb comment as much as an opionated one.

they do make fenders with floyd rose tremelos, but they are few and far between. the vast majority either use one of several fender designs, or have a hard tail (no tremelo).

I have an Ibanez with a Floyd Rose bridge and it sucks... I don't use it, so you can just put a block of wood or something under it as someone suggested?

I've been there and done that with Floyd Roses. And if at all possible, suggest him to get that thing locked out.

Any guitar tech that knows what they are doing can have a Floyd Rose restrung and ready to go in 10 minutes. It's not rocket science to restring them. You just need to have them set up correctly.

Bump for more comments.

My friend was telling me that his friends said he shouldn't have traded the Jackson for the LTD Viper 400. They were telling him he could have just put better pickups in that jackson. But my friend loves the guitar, and thinks it sounds great compared to the jackson. Hmm, anyone know why they are saying he should have kept the jackson? I really don't see why. I think the LTD is a better guitar.

BTW, my friend (not the one that traded his guitar) knows how to mess with a Floyd Rose. He says he can have one restrung in under 15 minutes.

It's a matter of preference. The import Jackson?s and your friends ESP are made in the same factory in Korea. Quality is about the same between the two.

Thanks for this thread teh meow. I am very happy with the new LTD Viper 400. Sounds a lot better than that Jackson, IMO. Its a sweet guitar. :)
