Guitarist Eddie Van Halen checks into rehab

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Guitarist Eddie Van Halen has checked into rehab.

He has posted a statement on the Van Halen band Web site saying he has always felt a responsibility to fans to give them his best, and at the moment he cannot do that. He says he's decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on himself.

He does not say for what he will be treated, nor which facility he's chosen.

Van Halen had announced plans to tour this year, which have since faltered. Van Halen says some of the issues surrounding the tour are within his ability to change, and some are not. He says his rehab will help him change for the better.

The band Van Halen will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Monday in a ceremony in New York. Van Halen's attendance at the event was cause of much speculation.

The bigger story here is that the VH tour is off. I had a feeling that would happen. I was looking forward to seeing them with DLR, but should have known Eddie's childish ego wouldn't allow it to happen.

He looks clean to me. Maybe a little dental meth rot but that's probably from second hand smoke hanging with all his rocker druggie friends. 😉

This wasn't going to be a real VH tour though. Unless VH means all in the family with DLR singing. His son was going to be playing bass because Eddie can't stand it that Michael does other things besides VH.

Can we just send every rock star into rehab as a preventitive measure? Maybe setup like a "Rock star rehab rotation schedule" where every 3 years they have to spend 3 months in a facility if they want to keep thier status as a rock star.

Mmm...I listened to some interviews from Guitar World the other day and the guy could barely speak. From pictures I've always thought he was on heroin.

Hopefully he'll clean up for once. He's not 20 anymore you know.

Photoshop didn't exist in 1980. Rock magazines used to have posters like this all the time back then. I've got another one with Joe Elliot from Def Leopard biting a pair of "obviously used" panties from the same era.

I am going to say you're wrong, and I hope I'm right.

The tour wasn't happening before he entered rehab. I see this as him trying to get better so they can do a tour the right way instead of what happened with Hagar last time. Hopefully they will also work on his common sense while in there so he will understand why he should have Michael Anthony back in and do it the right way, although I will see them with or without Anthony.

Maybe it is just wishful thinking...

Dude, He looks like he's been rode hard and put away wet. He's got the money to do anything he wants.....and it looks like he's tried to do all of it.
