Guitar Players Rejoice! =)

Joe Satriani and John Petrucci (Dream Theater) playing Joe's famous Summer Song together. John P harmonizes Joes leads "almost" flawlessly, but with a nice character. Not a perfect run for the two, but a very sweet listen regardless. Since Summer Song is one of my alltime faves, and John Petrucci is probably my fave guitarist, while Joe inspired me to play, its really cool to hear them play together like this. Sometimes its hard to tell who is doing what. This was taken on November 11, 2003 (about 25 days ago) in NYC.

The Music

i was there at Chicago. Those that didnt know who JP was learned really quick. I'd like to hear a Dream Theater'esqu project from satch and jp, with virgil donati on drums and john myung or stu hamm on bass.

agreed, petrucci is amazing

although on the latest record, his outro on 'This Dying Soul' is a bit excessive even for him 🙂

Yea, there are some obsessive/excessive parts on the new Train of Thought CD. I had a pantera fan say some of the fast parts were "over the f$#king top"

the harmony part sounds great. converting a third and fifth harmony on the fly like that takes some serious brain power, so thumbs up to petrucci. i use harmonies all the time, but i always have to sit there and think them out first. 🙂 also, playing that fast in sync with another player in a live situation is REALLY hard. great stuff. 🙂
