Practice what you don't know. If you're no good at alternate picking, that's exactly what you should be practicing.
 
IMHO alternate picking comes pretty naturally. I don't see how downpicking could be any faster. Break the habit now or suck forever 😛
 
I'm sort of suprised you'd prefer to use downstrokes only. I've found it much easier to use alternate picking, and I've only just started playing guitar for about 4 months.
 
So you guys who wanted lessons didn't exactly state what technique you wanted me to go over. So...what technique(s) is it that you want to bone up on?
