That's because what Activision is doing is anti competition. Competition happens when multiple companies are offering their products or services without any kind of artificial forces making you go to or stick with one particular one... .so they have to compete with price and with quality of their product or service. In this case, Activision is trying to force you to buy their instruments by making them non compatible with the Harmonix game. Harmonix has done just the opposite so far, as they have allowed the GH guitar to work in their game (at least for xbox players... they tried to allow it for PS3 players but activision blocked the patch that would have allowed it).
Personally I think Activision is hurting themselves and everybody because it will probably be a good game that a lot of people won't play because of what Activision is doing.
