I've got a Wii and was thinking about picking up guitar hero 3, but than I saw it for the PC too.

How is it? What about customize songs/game play? Any chance the guitar can be worked with a Xbox360/ps3, I know it wont for the wii, because of the plugin wii remote.

How is it? Broken as shit. No fretbar, no onscreen menus, all because of ATi's drivers.

Huh? I have all of those and I have an ati card.

However, guitar hero 3 for the pc apparently stutters on all platforms. No song customization.

You're better off getting frets on fire plus the alarian mod (they'll come together) and ripping the tracks off a ps2 guitar hero game and importing them in. Alarian makes frets on fire a direct rip off of guitar hero/rock band. People make custom songs for it too, and it supports the guitar hero (or ps3 rock band) controllers.

Yeah I couldn't get it to run on my x1900 AIW. I haven't tried with the new card yet though, so it may be fixed now, I last tried to run it in the Spring. I pretty much bought it for the USB controller haha, although it's kind of useless.

When I had GH3, it worked flawlessly with my 8800GTS 640 at 1680x1050. Sometimes it would have hiccups and that couldn't be explained but it never stopped me from doing well on expert songs. :) The game DOES have customization to the songs, it just requires work. Scorehero has good forums for it.

It runs great on my C2D 6600 /w 8800GTX system.

The guy at EB Games said it was a system killer, and to closely look at the requirements on the box. I would say he was partially right. This game's performance is crippled if there's any hard drive activity in the background, like defragging. A normal game like Doom 3 won't really change at all during a defrag, but GH3 will lag out and become unplayable during that time.
Maybe I just have shitty hard drives (very likely), but GH3 is the only game that lags out like that.

Overall, 10/10 in terms of usability. It's not bugged, it's not broken, the controller is plug and play, it works just fine. Adding custom songs was easy, but this is mostly just a waste of time since 99% of the charts out there are expert only.

lol it is only a waste of time if you can't play expert :) I learned how to play expert in just a few days and not playing a lot. It's really easy once you get it down, I could even play expert with a broken wrist/arm. (Painfully difficult)

I don't know. Most of my friends have at least one guitar hero game, and none of us can play expert. Miss more than about 10% of the notes and you get booed off stage; good luck with that

I wouldn't bother with it, grab the Frets on Fire Alarian mod instead. You'll have to "acquire" songs for it, but most from the GH games & more are out there. And get a wired X-box guitar for $40 if you want the controller. Plugs right in to a PC.
