Guitar Hero 3 - $89.99 on Amazon.com (all platforms)

Damn, that's cheap. How fast are they in terms of shipping?

EDIT: nm, just saw they ship USPS

Yeah, I guess shipping could be a downside. Doesn't matter to me though, my parents are buying it for my birthday (they insist on doing this even though I'm 26 and I tell them I don't want gifts) and I won't see them until at least a week after it's released.

I didn't realize this was going to be out so soon. I'd be all over this pre-order but it's be a month before I I got home to play it so I'll just pay extra to get it earlier.

Where are you working this month?

I'm just outside of LA for the next couple months which seems like a nice place to spend the winter.

How in the world is the Wii version not less expensive? Most of the guitars functionality is coming from the wiimote that you attach..its little more than a plastic shell with a few buttons.

Hopefully at least the wii guitar standalone is cheaper.

Because they can, unfortunately. That and it's the only guitar controller for the Wii...people are going to pay whatever it takes to get it.

Nice price for the 360 version, especially since the guitar is wireless. I'm still on the fence if I pick this up or not. I've never played any of the GH games before, but I hear nothing but rave reviews from people I know. It definitely looks fun, especially since you get to go up against Tom Morello in one of the boss fights.

i'd play it first if you are uncertain about it.

i heard all the fuss about it and my half brother borrowed it and i tried it out and was like "meh" and that was that.

That's kinda what I'm thinking. I'll just have to find one of my friends that's going to buy it.

I'll admit this - I was never a fan of it. My sis has GH2 for PS2 - I play it once in a blue moon when I go to my parents, but never saw what was so great about it.

Last week we had a dinner party at the new sig-o's friend's house. Maybe it was the booze, or the fact that we were all playing against each other for bragging rights, but it was suddenly really, really fun. The sig-o is dying to play/practice it so she can whoop her friend. I'm kinda dying to play it myself...now that I have a reason/motivation to beat the chick that spanked my ass in it. 🙁

Never played any of these.
Do you think the one for wii is a good buy? I take it the games fun as to how popular it is.
Don't you eventually run out of tunes to jam to though?

Go to Wal-Mart and see if they have one set up there. They usually do at the Wal-Mart where I live, though it's the PS2 version I think (not that it really matters, it's the same gameplay as the Wii).

Haha, yeah there's only a limited number of songs obviously but there's quite a few. There's also several difficulty modes, so once you beat one mode go up to the next and it's still quite a challenege. Plus there's multiplayer modes which IMO are the most fun when you get some friends together.

Best Buy usually has GH2 for the 260 setup as well.

Ok, I haven't played any of the guitar games yet. I own a PS2 and a PS3. Should I buy GH2 or just wait for GH3 to get into this stuff. I already pre-ordered Rock Band for my PS3, but I wanna start practicing...

do you think USB 360 guitars will work for rock band on PS3? I'm going to want to have 2 guitars, but with a lack of other guitars sold separately until after the new year, I'd be stuck with only one guitar. And I don't really know if I want to buy both GH3 and Rock Band for PS3.
And my friends that have one of the newer consoles all tend to have a 360, so cross compatibility is also a concern so that we can play together. these are questions that obviously go unanswered by the developers of both games, so they can sell more accessories.
