Anyone know if there is anything extra in this game that wasn't in the PS2 version? Also, anyone else planning on buying this Tuesday?

It's going to have 5 new songs, and the guitar has been made quite a bit better apparently. Not sure how the final online part worked out, but they were talking about being able to download other songs as they're made. Or possibly all the songs from Guitar Hero 1. But because of copyright garbage they probably would have to charge for them, but like i said I don't know how that turned out.

the guitar is supposed to feel more sturdy, like the buttons and such.

there are supposed to be 10 new songs, and they revealed 5:

* Billion Dollar Babies (Alice Cooper)
* Dead! (My Chemical Romance)
* Hush (Deep Purple)
* Life Wasted (Pearl Jam)
* Rock N Roll Hoochie Koo (Rick Derringer)

Possum Kingdom (Toadies), Salvation (Rancid) and The Trooper (Iron Maiden), might be some more.

There is a deal at Circuit City too. You get some amount of points (1600 I believe) if you buy the guitar+game for $89.99.

I heard there will be no online multiplayer. Is this true?

I think that there is no online multi, but there is a headset jack on the guitar. :confused:

So you can brag to someone about fragging them in Gears of War with a GEE-TAR!

I probably won't buy it... I donno, I end up buying games I never play anyway and I wasn't a huge fan of the originals for the PS2. But that free points thing at Circuit City that someone mentioned sounds worthwhile. That's $20 worth of free points!

Picked up my copy Friday night courtsey of Circuit City. :)

The graphics and textures are much improved over the PS2 version, the 5.1 sound makes a HUGE difference (the surround of the crowd noise is AWESOME), and then there is the DLC. That in-and-of-itself is enough to warrant buying the updated port.

Simply put, this is one of the top 3 games on the XBox 360 hands down.

I agree with the above - I've been waiting on this game for ages, and more than once nearly bought a PS2 just to play it... The downloadable content will drive this to another level, if they come through with it on their side.

Pre-order with 2 guitars arrives today, and how impatient was I that I picked up the game up at Circuit City on Saturday anyway, just to get a few days play in? Oh well - I'm sure a friend of mine will buy the extra copy off me...

I bought mine today with the free 1600 points :D. Thank you, Circuit City, for firing people so I could get a $20 gift card for free :laugh:!

Man.. what happened to the days when preorders were shipped early so you get it when the stores do?

Got it at Wally World and after two songs - Surrender and Possum Kingdom - my fret hand is killing me. Man this game is tough, but I love it.

Its definitely one of the greatest games ever created. Its almost injust to be able to rock like this without having to actually learn how to play the guitar.

Normal mode can be pretty tough...but I actually found Hard mode to be a bit easier in some ways. Hard feels *much* more like you're playing an actual guitar - easy mode just basically puts you in a mode where you use one finger for each of the 4 frets, and it just feels unnatural to go through power chords by switching fingers rather than moving the ones youre already using.

My biggest gripe is the loud spring in the strum thingy - if you actually strum it up and down, its real loud and twangy...if you just push down on it like its just a button, its real quiet...but I just can't rock like that.

But yeah...my wrist feels like its about to fall off. At least my fingers arent bleeding from the strings. :p

Are the guitar controllers only wired right now? I thought I read that somewhere but it'd make sense that they'd make wireless guitars.

The guitar is wired, I pre-ordered it and picked it up yesterday. I didn't get a chance to play but did open the box to discover the guitar was wired. I can't remember why but I was under the impression that it was supposed to be wireless too, I think I read it somewhere. I was a little disappointed, I need to play some tonight, I'm sure I'll get over it.

The usb cable is about ten feet.....I needed a few more and I found an extender lying around and am using that. The B&M extenders that they sell are way overpriced so if you need one plan in advance and order online.

This game is freaking great. I was hesitant at first but I'm already hooked. Now I just need to play a lot and figure out some sort of Guitar Heroesque exercises I can do at work to be able to play the game more than 30 minutes. :p

The guitar is wireless, because the wireless for the XBOX 360 is proprietary and Microsoft won't license it to anyone. Although, I've been trying to wrack my brain thinking about why they won't license it, and I honestly can't think of a reason... it's not like you could make a device that'd allow you to cheat... you could do that just using a USB-based device :p.

But when I was reading the review for GH2 on IGN, they remarked about Activision saying that they're trying to bring a wireless guitar to the XBOX 360, which would be nice, since although Microsoft peripherals aren't cheap (and they'd probably be the one to make the guitar)... they're usually very high quality. I have 0 complaints about my racing wheel :).

The PS2 guitars are way better... at least at the moment.
I have the PS2 version.. and play a lot. I played the xbox version first on a demo, adn then after it was released played the full version at another store. There are some serious issues with the xbox360 guitar. Most of the issues people who played on the ps2 have are just things you'd get used to in time.. like the feel of the explorer vs the SG, and the different shaped buttons, etc. However, the whammy bar on the xbox360 has some serious problems . I saw this when I played the full version the other day... when you start whammying it doesn't take effect for like a half second to a second after you start hitting it... you can never get full star power out of a sustain. This completely blows a lot of star power strategies...

The actual SP activision is realy shakey.. on some guitars you breath too hard and the star power activates, on others you tilt the thing 90 degrees vertical and it won't activate...

Some people have claimed that they went and got a standalone guitar and it was a little different than the one they got in their bundle and these problems were solved, I don't know if that's true... but maybe they did change the construction of the guitars to fix these issues and you have to get one of the newer guitars if you have the original. I can't say much about that.. it's all rumor.

Odd. My whammy bar seems to take effect immediately. I did hear that there are two different versions of the guitar and people were having problems with one of them. I guess this means I got one of the good ones?
