There is nothing better to have after a sh!tty day at work. OK, nothing that you can have while your pants are still on and zipped. Anyway, I thought I'd share

<-- starts second six pack of the night

I always hear people say either that Guinness is totally awesome or really really nasty.

If you like piss beer, it is really really nasty.

But if you drink REAL beer, Guiness is totally awesome.

Get it? ;)

people who think "natty light" is good beer and "beast" is "acceptable" tend to not like guinness. If you like a beer that lets you know you are having it and not funny tasting, slightly flavored carbonated water, you may like Guinness. But you are correct, there are very few people who are in the middle with regards to the taste of Guinness

Oh, one thing that you can do with Guinness that you cant do with most beers:

-when you have a drunk friend who has clearly gone beyond his limit, and whom you have to work with the following day (ie, him having a hangover will screw you over), take an empty Guinness, fill with water, pour into his glass, and it looks like Budweiser in color, and even has a little bit of head. Hand the "beer" to your friend, and tell him after that or maybe one more you are cutting him off. If he is drunk (which is a precondition), he wont notice that its water.

Here! Here!

Guinness is my favorite beer. Probably why I think it was foolish of you drink two six packs because you had a crappy day at work.

I save my Guinness for special occasions and good times. Not to drink my sorrows away.

To each his own.

I stopped at 8 rather than finishing the second six. In this case, it was my reward to myself for forcing myself through the sights and smells involved in my job that day. My manager had me clean the public restrooms for the first time, since the guy who is supposed to do it called off. So, in the womens room, I find that someone has literally sh!t on the wall. I dont know why, I can guess how (projectile diarreha), but it happened. And I'm not talking about a small amount of fecal material, either, I'm talking about a full pint that hit the wall, floor, toilet tank, and toilet seat.

On a better note, I did some work for my friends dad, and got hired at the rate of "all the Guinness I can drink" while digging the trench. I didnt actually go for all I can drink (needed to be somewhat sober while swinging away), but it still was the most pleasant trench digging I have ever engaged in.

I've actually moved on past Guinness. Don't get me wrong, I'll gladly drink one, but I've found that Oatmeal and Chocolate stouts are much more satisfying. After drinking a good oatmeal or chocolate Guinness just tates...bland.

In which case, name me a couple, and I'll try them when I get a chance

I had a chocolate stout and I found it well.. too stout. Guinness is good when you just want a drink with dinner and don't want to get blasted.

Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout
Rogue Brewery Chocolate Stout
Beamish is also another stout similar to Guinness...I find it a bit sweeter though and usually drank that while I was in Ireland.
Sierra Nevada and Anchor Brewery also make porters that are delicious drinks too.

Also, the local microbrews around me have some excellent Oatmeal stout that they make in house as well.

$5 for a half gallon jug of fresh brewed oatmeal stout is an awesome bargain. And a fun night :)

Mackeson Triple Stout or Oasis Zozer Stout are both excellent sweet stouts. A pint with a bowl of vanilla ice cream makes a kickass dessert. :D

Not necessarily. Stuff like Pilsner Urquell and other traditional lagers are also pretty damn good.
