There was a Guild Wars CD inside our campus newspaper (Ohio State), so any of you who are at a university might want to check your paper.

Same here at Cornell... interesting marketing trick.

I guessing since this game is going to be fee free, they need a heck of a consumer response. This could be the reason for the low system requirements as well. I'm starting to like these guys. A game for everyone, that isn't a piece of crap.

wow, very impressive graphics engine.....runs great on this old crap computer and looks great with graphics set at the least.

i am really impressed. interesting download system too, kinda annoying at times though. a few lags here and there.

but looks like the game is in great shape and still got time to improve.

highly recommend it.

Wow, this will tide me over for a few days, might have to give this a shot.
Graphics are nice, skill choices are an interesting option.

I dl'd the client and played for a little bit. The landscape is lucious and graphics are very nice. My reg video card is out for repairs but I'm playing on a 64 mb Geforce 4 440MX, very nice!

I'm not a MMORPG player and don't care for the PVP aspect of those games, so I'm not sure if I"ll stick with this when it comes out.

hehe my chars from the E3 event were still there. Whole new areas and monster and necro monsters work now.

Nice! I hope mine are still there! Downloading now...

Are there any changes in gameplay since then? I didn't see anything at the Guild Wars site about it, but I only looked quickly.

the preview is ok.

it's like a nice-looking Priston Tale.

in my opinion,

free MMORPG = bunch of freeloading munchkins ruining the game for legit players

ehh I played it and did the first mission or whatever and wasn't that impressed, though I guess I probably barely scratched the surface of the game I doubt I will be buying it.

The pictures look great but I have never been able to get into a MMORG. The only ones I've tried really sucked (they were the early ones) and they were too demanding on time.

I wouldn't say the munchkins would ruin this game. It's called GUILD Wars for a reason. Don't let the munchkins in your guild. You won't be playing with munchkins as they won't be in the same mission instances with you. You might play against a few of them in the early game until your ranking puts you above dealing with them but just take pleasure in giving them the slap down.

This one is designed for casual gamers as well. Can get into a game with someone very rapidly. Traveling you could walk if you wanted but quicker to hit the M key on your keyboard to bring up the map. Then just click where you want to travel to.

same here @ Berkeley

hehe what's also dope is you can invite NPC's to join you on mission quests. 🙂

because the missions are hard to complete with less than the max amt of ppl.

in those explorable areas you can hire up to a max of 5 NPCs if you're by yourself. 4 if you're with a friend.

edit: IE be a Warrior/mesmer and hiring NPC's to heal you rocks 🙂

What mixed well from the Warrior and mesmer combo? Warrior/monk I found handy though warrior anything besides warrior mesmer I can think of easy mixes for. I'm still figuring out mesmer.

Making an elementalist ranger to try tonight. I'm figuring earth and/or water on elemental side. Pets, traps and rituals look nice from the ranger side. It's really hard boiling it down to the bare minimum as there's only so much you can do at one time. I'm figuring by some sort of combination I can be well protected by elemental armors, pets and slowing status effects on enemies. What specific one's I can't decide on yet.

Game's great.

I redid my char to a elementalist, and boy does it kick @ss but at the same time pretty vulnerable if you don't have a good mix of chars in your team.
I was mixing it up with 2 rangers and 3 henchmen and didn't take long for most of us to die easily.
Going to take a slow learning curve to get the basic's of this so it's all 2nd nature and play it the way it's supposed to play......

now that some organized munchkins. 🙂

yeh just lostt 2 hours of my life to this 'demo', lol, went in as a ranger/elementalist, seems like a good combo but you get hosed in arena battle pretty easily. kinda too much visual effects goin on, seems distracting but pretty smooth gameplay and levels load at like 400K/sec for me(this evening).
seems like you would have to explore and build up ALOT before taking any real players on, haevnt tried co-op missiona yet though, thats probably the route.
