I bought the pre order for 99 cents at MicroCenter, and this weekend they had a beta weekend. All in all a very cool game! Pretty typical as MMORPG's go, but I had fun with it, and the fact that it won't have a monthly fee is some pretty good news to me!
wait, how is it only supposed to be $10; I thought the point of it was to be able to play for free online. If it's $10, there's no way accounts can be free.
There is no monthly subscription fee for Guild Wars. Instead they are risking a new business model of having an expansion pack every 6 months. That is the de facto subscription. This game is pretty tight, and it is nothing like other MMORPGs, no fee's, no huge investments of time, think of it like Counterstrike, jump on, go do a few PVP runs, then you can go do something else...
