Per eggrolls comment, it is a better deal to get the Platinum Edition which has the GOTY + expansion for $3 more instead of getting the GOTY Edition.

If you're new to this, you want the $13 Platinum edition and Factions. There are 3 standalone campaigns and 1 expansion, and for $23 you have 2 campaigns and 1 expansion. Don't get GOTY because Platinum = GOTY + expansion for $3 more.

Are these worthwhile for their single player? I don't want to get involved in another MMORPG, but could go for some good RPG gaming while I wait for future releases...

I have been playing Guild Wars for 3 years now, 99% of that time I have played solo. Unlike many of the other MMO style games, this one has npc's you can add to your party and I have completed the entire games with only these npc's.

I just gave it up a little while ago, but I am sure I will miss it. Probably my favorite game ever next to Half Life 2.
